Well, after picking up MGS2 (and that was after playing MGA), I wanted to see some of the story from the rest of the series. I tried to figure out which version of MGS is the best to get. I wound up with the PS1 version becuase of reported problems trying to get the FMV's to work (and, to a certain extent, hardware acceleration wasnt available.. but thats a minor issue since it runs fast in software). I don't have a gamecube, or else the Twin Snakes would have been the obvious choice.
Anyway, I'm at the point now where I have to switch discs... and when I do, nothing happens. It just sits there. For a long while. My Disc 2 isnt bad, as I can launch the game from it. In fact, if I were to launch from disc 2, load my save file, have it ask for disc 1 (and put in disc 1), the game will start out in the snowfield.. but then crash when it goes to the cutscene. Disc Speed and Texture Mapping is on standard.
Any ideas? If I can't get this to work, I'll probably try the PC version with a PS2 -> USB adapter.. I really don't want to buy another console.. heh.
Thanks in advance.
