Memory vs Bus Question

[blu3flannel]

Hey,

I'm looking at buying of two 9600 GSO's to use as a backup when something happens to my normal one or when I'm in transition. I'd like to know which one would better, the one with 512MB of RAM with a 128-bit bus or the one with 384MB of RAM with a 192-bit bus? Thanks.

There are about a billion different flavors of the 9600 GSO with different specs. What are the specs of the rest of the card?

Personally I'd grab a 9600GT or 8800GT/9800GT as a backup and avoid the weirdness of the 9600GSO.

Would the 9600GT be better than a GSO, and by how much?

Depends on which 9600 GSO you're talking about.

the 384MB, 192-bit bus one with 96 shaders.

Yeah the 9600GT is faster. It's about 15% faster.

Wow, that's pretty significant. Thanks for the tip.
