Guys, i lookin through the stickies on OC a few times.......so i know that
FSB x CPU muliplier = CPU speed..... and FSB & DDR2 memory multiplier affect the max speed of the RAM......one thing i dont understand is this..... as you "loosen" the RAM to 5-5-5-15 & OC the CPU and give it more VCORE, and when you finally get the Vcore that makes whatever OC stable, thats when you play with the RAM setting....but does that translate into much real world difference ? two Q6600 runnin at the same ghz but with diff timing/ram speed, will you really see that much difference ? thanks for any info...

For specific results for multiple types of usage, check out this article.

As far as gaming goes, the difference is negligible. File compression and encryption gets some boost from the tighter timings. It makes a bit of difference when multitasking intensive apps. The test on the site were with Core2Duos, but it would be expected to get the same results on a CPU of the same architecture.
