Ok, so I don't know if this warrants a new thread or not, and I know I'm months behind.

I just got this game and am about half way through. What an awesome game - I had no idea. Voice acting is superb and facial quality/animation is unreal. Story is great. Very well done indeed. I paid $29 and it's the best money I've spent on a game in a LONG time.

Is there going to be a ME2 coming out does anybody know?

Also, I heard there's a patch (Sky something) that adds a new mission? Is that worth downloading?

Yes, ME2 will be coming out although a date hasn't been mentioned yet from what I recall. The game was originally planned to be a trilogy, so a ME3 will follow. ME2 will use your saved game from the first one, it's likely the third game will follow this pattern as well.

Haven't played the extra mission yet so I can't comment there.

I've asked this before but any screen shots you can post?? (I'm at work and can't get to any site with "Game" in the search string LOL

Yeah, great game. It pulled me all the way through. This game kept me interested!

I don't care for these types of games, so I bought Mass Effect for my wife.:)

She has been up until 3:30 a.m. multiple times playing this game. She has logged about 23 hrs so far. I must say after watching her play for a while. If you enjoy an RPG this game seems to be top notch. The graphics are beautiful, voice acting is awesome, intriguing story line etc.. Her favorite game before this was KOTOR and she says this is soooo much better. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. She even went to Barnes and Noble last night and picked up two of the Mass Effect storyline books and is reading those when she can't play.

^ Now that is one devoted fan! ;).

I enjoyed playing the game too. One of the better games I've played in a long long time. Also it was one of the games that I own that I have actually finished within a short time after obtaining it. GOOD game.

fun game, main story was too short though. it ended before i kknew what had just happened lol

I'm glad to see this. I was hesitant to get this (I liked NWN, but not NWN2 and didn't like either KOTOR). Hearing that it's a great game makes me look forward to playing it (just got it from gogamer on Saturday and haven't gotten around to installing it yet).

Haha! I just got it from GoGamer on Saturday too! I'm almost done with it. SUCH a good game.

ME was one of the best games I have played in years. Although it was a bit on the short side and the side quests could have been fleshed out much better.

I think I am pretty far into it and loving it as well. Great story, great voice acting, decent weapon and combat system. Overall it is just really fun. The graphics are so-so if you ask me, they are well done, but space type games don't really have a lot of room to make 'stunning' graphics, do to the environment the player is generally in.

Can't believe this one slipped by me, I just picked it up early last week. I think I glanced at it and said 'eh, console port... moving on'. They are not all bad I guess :)

Just starting my second playthrough, this time as a renegade adept (as opposed to a paragon soldier).

It really is an amazing game, and it gets better and better the further you get. And for once it doesn't fall flat at the end like many games do.

I always felt it was one of those games that is greater then the sum of its parts.

There was just so much to do and see, I wanted to continue the story, I felt driven to.

The game as a whole, allowed me to see past the obvious flaws.

If they fix whats wrong with the first one (mako missions anyone?) and keep the great formula intact, I'll buy two ME2 copies just for the fun of it, lol.

I use Film Grain, in case you are wondering why it looks grainy.

yeah the ending was pretty epic imo.

Yeah awesome game. Only thing I didn't like about was that the side quests pretty much suck. It's just go here, kill some baddies, win! Also the graphics weren't really all that; however I think it'd look much better with some AA and AF. A lot of the building layouts are used over and over again. It's like someone was just feeling lazy and did ctrl+c, ctrl+v for all the side quests.

I keep wanting to pick this game up, but keep forgetting too..lol.

Citizen: whats ur system specs? I'm not worried bout mine, should run fine, but i'm just curious

i saw it doesn't have a live logo on it.. do you still get achievements for this game? i haven't got windows live.. but was just somewhat curious.

looks like a console port, is it?

you say this is game of the year worthy and say quest. Is this run and gun or ?

It's an rpg made by bioware...you know, the kotor and baldur's gate people.

It was released first on the xbox 360, but is out for the pc with pc specific interface and such.

wikipedia and google are your friends if you'd like more info.

I just picked it up and got into it. 21 hours into it, and it is a fun game. But, it has two things that are REALLY killing the game for me. The rover scenes are fun, but too many objectives are on the other side of a steep cliff. I've literally spent five minutes just trying to get to a stupid debris by climbing a wall, sliding down, climbing at an angel, get 1' from the top and fall all the way down, move and try another part, rinse and repeat.

I'm always saving constantly due to the other issue: the conversation selector. But, this is a console issue and probably doesn't affect the PC version. I'm a speed reader and don't like to wait for the game. So, I'm constantly tapping "X" to move on through the conversations. Unfortunately, the developers decided to also map "X" to the right conversation selection, instead of a dead neutral spot. When "A" is already used in conversations, why double map to the skip button? SO many times I've blown past a conversation by accident, and many are one-time deals (Like Tali's "sad" conversation).

Overall, a fun game. I was playing a few hours today but finally gave up in frustration after another rover mountain slip and slide.

Guess I'm the only one who got it for pc and got bored a few hours in. I would say the gameplay did it in for me.

$.02

My laptop, Gateway P-6831FX, with a T9300 processor @ 2.5Ghz, and 8800m GTS. So yeah, looking at your specs, and depending on your resolution, you'll have at least the same, if not better performance.

I've been really enjoying the game. I think I'm about 15 hours in. In fact, I think I'm going to go play it right now :D

Eh, its not everyone's cup of tea, just like anything else.

I can say, the whole game picked up around 10 hours in, dont know if you want to invest that much time, but it was a great game that only got better till the amazing end.

It's an excellent game, but it feels a bit on the short side. I can already tell I'm at the last mission. Also, like someone mentioned earlier, the side-quests could be fleshed out a bit more. They're sometimes along the lines of MMORPG "kill this, bring this back" quests on a much more epic scale.

About the DLC, it was a pretty damn entertaining mission. Lasted about 3 hours, and was very well fleshed out and more along the lines of what I wish the original game's side quests were (see above). Still, it was free.... so the value was excellent (obviously). :D

I'll be playing it on my desktop, but now I'm curious how it'll run on my P-6860FX with the stock 1.8Ghz processor. I'll have to load it up and check.

I'm not playing ME yet, but my wife is, and I've spent a couple of hours watching her play after setting up the game and settings. On my setup, I'm playing maxed out with hardware 5.1 surround, 1600x1200 on FD Trinitron CRT.

I have to say, it is one slick game. Excellent sound, great use of the LFE for some really could low frequency ambiance, great inter-scene "music" to continue immersion. I love the navigation map implementation and appearance, lighting, rendering of planet surfaces and scenery, use of DOF effects - everything.

Yeah, the rover stuff looks kind of annoying, but it won't stop me from playing.

Great work, Bioware. Even if it isn't everyone's style of game, it is a heck of a piece of work.

THANKS FOR THE SCREEN SHOTS!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Man that looks awsome I'm going out after work and getting it :)

The DLC was awesome. I want more "story" missions....not one of them got boring or lame.

its an awesome port if you know what i mean. Damn aiming with the mouse kicks ass

M.E feels like a movie/game, really sets it apart from the crowd. The main mission the selling point, it really is well made. I agree with the previous posters regarding the sidemissions could use a bit more work. 99% of them consist of landing on a barren planet with a rover and driving to a point of interest, which is usually a warehouse full of boxes populated by a dozen enemy troops that are always ready for your visit. They must get pretty lonely on those empty planets. There's alot of hand-holding for character creation, it's almost impossible to mess up a build because any combination of skills/attributes usually works fine in most situations. The redeeming point is the decision tree for character interaction, it really goes deep and your words can go a long way, found that to be quite more involving than running and gunning aliens.

ME is a fantastic game. It's a wonderful RPG/Action game with great graphics and an immersive story. I just got it and it'll all I'm playing in my freetime. If you're into fast paced RPG's this is definately the game to get.

My suggestion though is to treat it like fine wine. Savor it. If you just blow through the convo-trees and blast your way through the main story, it'll feel hallow. I actually like do the side quests. If you listen to npcs that give them out, there's a back story to give it some immersion.

On normal, the combat is a bit easy as long as you don;t walk into a room full of baddies. The AI isn't all that great. Lead them into a small hallway, and they march at you like lemmings, single file. Also, my friendly AI seem to have no problem shooting me in the back if I'm in front, or just blindly walking into my line of fire.

My character uses pistols exclusively. (max pistols, combat armor, assault, commando).

Great game. The best game I've played in quite some time (aside from some of my old favorites.) I'm just about to start playing it through again to try out the DLC. I can't wait for the sequels.

I am about halfway through it myself, I definitely love it, I will be picking it up for PC before ME2 comes out because I hate FPSs on the 360. I only bought cause my current computer won't let me play it in all its glory.. but will be building a new once i7 comes out. :)

the title of this thread works perfectly with that one about everyone swinging from Mass Effects nuts.

The fpsrpg style this game has is really nice. I also really enjoyed the dialogs (no only shoot em up and thats it).

I wasn't too happy with the DLC, maybe because I'm a console player that had to pay for it. It was less than an hour of gameplay but did have an interesting story. 32 hours in and just finished all of the assignments and missions except Ilos. It did add a lot of XP though, enough to get halfway from lvl 49 to 50 :)

Hmm, just finished it and was put off by two things.

The story is very similar to that of Frederick Pohl's Gateway in many ways. I love Gateway (one of my favorite sci-fi series), but the similarities started to bug me after awhile. But, stupid as this may sound, but I gripe about the advertising for the game. The ad that really made me buy it was the typical one where all of the planets/ships in the sky are all OOC or SOS. It pushed the idea that the entire galaxy was attacked, everyone dead, and you're picking up the pieces. Instead, it was a bunch of normal planets and petty missions. I kept playing and playing waiting for all Hell to break loose, but it never occurred :(

Still a great game, though.
