Marvell 9128 question

My UD9 MB has a Marvell 9128 for its Sata 6Gb connection. I heard this controller is pretty poor.

Currently have a X-25M 160GB plugged into the Intel Sata 2 Southbridge. If I bought one of these new Sata 6Gb drives like the Intel 510 or Vertex 3 but have to use them on the Marvell 9128, would I see much of a performance increase versus my current setup?

Does the 9128 really suck that bad?

Oh, and does the 9128 pass TRIM commands?
 
You're really not going to notice a speed increase between SATA2 & 3 unless you get some high performing SATA3 drives in RAID0.
