Ok I set up my first water-cooling loop tonight. I didn't think about it till now, but with the solid black tubing, I have no visual idea how the water is flowing.

I filled up the res and turned the pump on for a few seconds till it drained, then repeated that a couple times until it is at the same constant level. It seems to be working fine, I'm seeing the water spit back out from the reservoir inlet, so I'm assuming everything is ok.

Will the rad fill up completely by itself, or do I need to start tilting the case around and upside down to be sure?

Just looking for some peace of mind I guess.

I would turn your case on its back so the water from the res can be gravity fed better into the pump. Leave it there for about 20 mins. If the water drops significantly from the res, add more and keep bleeding. Once it stops dropping a significant ammount you should be good to go.

It actually takes about 5 days for a loop to FULLY bleed. As in no small bubbles or anything. You should be good to use the computer if your bleeding with a res in about 30 min though.
 
Ok thanks for the advice, has been running for about 45min without a problem. Will run it on its back for a while too.
 
just watch the res. What i do is turn on/off the pump every 15 min for like an hour. to see the level go up and down. after a while the level stay the same. i run my loop for about 24 hours straight. watching through out the day. fill as needed

What happens if you turn your system off, say overnight? Or for a few days or even weeks, like you're out of town? ;)
 
Yea got her up and running, been going since Monday night with regular pc use without dropping after topping it off. Like this water cooling deal, looking forward to doing the NB and gps(s) when I replace this aging hardware. Have to hold out at least till Hydra, and probably fermi if I'm going to be investing in full blocks for the cards.
 
Just curious, are you able to fit a CD/DVD drive up in the top? Does the rad get in the way?
 
I don't think the rad itself was in the way, but the tubing hanging down definitely was. Might be able to make it work with some angled fittings, I didn't pay too much attention though so it could hit the rad for all I know. All I have is a blu-ray/hddvd drive for 5.25" so I just threw it in above the reservoir rather than messing with things.
