I'm guessing these guys also never had the fantasy vs reality talk with their parents:
Because at the end of the day it's all about what men want
Get it?
So they're mad at how we procreate and choose partners as humans?
sigh.
Not to nitpick, but neither could women that look like these women. The "top heavy waif" body type, in general, isn't jumping out of any moving trains.
Don't sigh at me :*(
I really don't get it. Just seems like a lot of word play how you said it's all about men.
Couldn't my power fantasy be all about getting women?
When a man in the comics is ripped and the size of a brick shithouse, that's a male power fantasy.
When a woman in the comics has a size 0 waist and 36F boobs with 3 square inches of clothing, that is a male sexual fantasy.
That's what I mean.
I'm not saying men shouldn't have fantasies, I'm saying pointing out how men are ripped and calling is a double standard is a fundamental misunderstanding of what fantasies are being fulfilled and who is being objectified.
Okay, yes. Because comics are generally geared towards males.
But lets think about your average chick flick film, geared towards women. You find the same thing. That's my point. The chick is fit and attractive, so is the dude.
As far as i can tell, everyone like's attractive people. So, what's the big deal?
Cuz in chick flicks the characters are played by real people?
Comics are geared towards men. Fine. Is that enough of an excuse? And which was does that logical progression even go?
Comics are drawn for men because men buy comics
Or
Men buy comics because they are drawn for them?
Fwiw, about half the attendants of comic con are women.
Women are interested in comics. Are you interested in romance novels?
Fat might be average, I'm too lazy to check that statistic, but the point of what I was saying is that average people aren't super bad ass soldier assassins, martial arts dynamo fighters, world class athletes, heroic figures who have the power to single handedly destroy every evil beast in a realm, etc...While I agree with you on most of it, plus sized is now average. 70% of this country is overweight. We have more obese people today than we had overweight people just 40 years ago. So fat does mean average.
Here you go:
So women are interested in comics.. and women like attractive people, just like men do. So who's to say that the characters aren't drawn for their entire viewing audience?
I generally don't care if someone is fat, skinny, fluffy, whatever.... mind your own god damn business. If you wanna be fat, be fat. But don't have the unrealistic expectation that everyone else shouldn't care about their health too.
I'm not ripped and I probably never will be, but 6'1 and 210lbs, I can move when I need to
I am 6'4" and had a six pack at 212 lbs and was considered obese. Had a friend at 6'2" right at the line of being a healthy weight and people said he looked like a skeleton. Weight for people who exercise is a really bad measurement to go by. Put on a few pounds and now at 230. From what I have seen a lot of people have really different body types.

By now, most people on the planet realize that characters in comics, movies and video games have over-the-top, unrealistic physiques. I just don't understand why this is an issue. It's make believe, it's entertainment. Besides, what fun would it be to play a realistic version of yourself in a video game? I get tired running to the fridge.
For example, plus-sized women are a rarity in video games, and when one does show up, shes typically unusual looking. More often it seems video games are home to ultra-slim waistlines only. If video game creators are going to pride themselves on accurate digital representations, then its time for them to get real about women.

Quick question though, are the men like that because they saw comics, action figures, cartoons, etc and thought they had to look like that? Or was there some underlying issue from the start? You guys posting this realize that men have body image issues just like women, right? Doesn't take much searching to find bodybuilders with body dysmorphic disorder, starving and binging and bulimic, anorexic and whatever else -- just like women.
hahaha, what are you talking about? did you really not grow up in this society or not interact with anyone when you were growing up?Quick question though, are the men like that because they saw comics, action figures, cartoons, etc and thought they had to look like that? Now the difference between men and women in cases like this? Men we try to help, women we try to blame everyone else for making them feel like they need to look like that and demand everything else changes, and yes we do get women help too but for men we don't say comic books, cartoons, action figures, video games, etc need to change.
