Make my computer faster.

My current gaming PC is pretty quick, but I want some thoughts on how I should spend some $ on parts to make it run games better.

Eyefinity with 3x 1080p screens is definitely hitting performance on newer games, so how would you best use $500-$700 to best beef it up?

CPU: 2600K w/ H70 @ 4.5Ghz
Mem: 8GB (2x4GB)
GPU: CrossfireX 6950's 2GB
SSD: Crucial C300 128GB
Monitors: 3x Dell U2311H

GTX 680. Also that SSD is a bit outdated. I'd say get a Corsiar Performance Pro + a GTX 680 and you would see slightly better performance.

Mobo: ASUS P8P67 Pro
PSU: Corsair AX850
Case: Corsair 800D

You can also check out the Gigabyte 7970 OC for $440 and save some dough and get similar performance.

Also this 680 has a promo code bringing it to $500.

That plus this Corsair Performance Pro 128gb brings you to around $700. If budget is a concern with those items then you can always get the 7970.

Another option is the gtx 670 which is $100 cheaper than the 680 but performs just as well (especially if you OC.) This Galaxy OC 670 received a gold award from Hard OCP. It is $440 as well.

Not a smart idea: Not only will you be losing VRAM which means lower performance/smoothness, you're also dramatically increasing the heat and power usage of the PC.

Over the GTX 470 SLI setup yes. Over HD 6950 2GB Crossfire? If we're talking solely base on performance, no. At worst, you're gonna get the same performance as the HD 6950 2GB CFX. At best, you'll see a small improvement. Hardly worth the effort and costs IMO. If you really want a noticeable performance increase over your current setup, you're looking at GTX 670 SLI at the minimum IMO. You would have to up your budget to $800 though.

Also, I don't think you'll see a noticeable performance improvement with a new SSD to justify the costs.

Err crap - when I typed out my earlier response, I had meant to type out SLI'd GTX 670's, not SLI 470's. </brainfart> Thank you.

If I up my budget a little bit more, to around 800-900, between SLI'd 670's versus Crossfire 7970's, which will perform better at 5760x1080?

More than likely the GTX 670 SLI setup would perform better due to better drivers.
