So while I like MW2, its great.. but I feel like I'm really missing a good tactical team play experience. Fond memories of BF1942 and all hte expansions as well as socom and rainbow 6. Dont get me wrong modern warfare is awesome, I just seem to be missing a different flavor of 'tactival teamwork'

I'm going to pick up MAG today, and I'm hoping it feels this particual gaming itch I seem to be experiencing. I'd also like to begin playing online games with a consistent group of like minded folks. Its so much more fun to play as a cohesive team. So anyone else picking up MAG, send me a friend request on PSN, my nick is 'ftard'

Really like to get some good tactical games going with a group of good folks.

I'm east coast based by the way, mainly playing late evenings and weekends.
 
Meh, MAG's beta was so lackluster I can't even bring myself to care. Game is a steaming pile of "been there, done that".

really? that kind of sucks... MAG was definitely one of the PS3's exclusives that had me thinking about buying one. Is it just slow paced? What didn't you like about it?

I just found it lackluster on all fronts, really. Mediocre graphics, typical FPS gameplay. Really nothing special about it at all.
 
I thought the next-to-last beta (before the public one) was okay, but obviously that doesn't really factor in mass quantities of clueless folks running around. I might watch for a sale on it, assuming I'm not slogging through Demon's Souls or something...
 
got it last night, got home from work at 8:30 est, servers are frigging down, So angry right now had a day from hell at work and couldnt wait to play tonight.

My guess is that you're better off just enjoying Demon's Souls :)

The CONCEPT is cool, but the execution is quite lacking.

Well, I hope you enjoy yourself. If you're content playing essentially the very same FPS's you've always played, now with more players at once but nothing else different, you'll do just fine :)
 
Think of it as another halo -- much hype, bad execution. Halo was just as bad imo.
 
This game was rushed. It needed another month or two. It's going to get poor launch reviews and really hurt it from people avoiding it, even if stuff ends up getting fixed in a few months.
 
Got a few hours in last night with a few friends I had a hell of a time I dont know why people dont like it. The maps are fun, the game is a blast, Im not sure if much has changed from the beta as I didnt play it but we all had a good time playing last night.
 
I only played the last public beta but frames seemed to improve after applied patch for the retail version. I had a blast last night, started at 11pm and didn't even know when 1am hit.

First console shooter that feels right at home for me.

Dragon why do you feel the need to get into every thread that's somehow related to PS3 and shit on it? This thread is clearly for people who are interested in this game and OP asks for people to play with because he is buying it. He doesn't ask if he will like or not or if we like it or not.

Agreed, I dont know why its receiving negative feedback to be honest I had no issues with it. Graphics are pretty good considering the amount of on screen activity they look great. It doesnt have auto-aim like a COD or some of the other shooters out there which may turn some people off to it but I cant wait until the weekend to get more time in.

Well when I went in to Gamestop yesterday to get ME2, suprisingly the Xbot that worked there was talking about how cool MAG was and how he loved it.

I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on it too, because I've prestiged a few times in MW2 now and it's starting to get a little repetitve. How is the Xp system in this game? Is it just rank or are you allowed extra weapons/kits etc.. as you gain Xp.
 
Theres an xp system similar to MW2 for abilities, attachments and new weapons as well as gear.
 
Only up to level 6 in MAG in a couple of hours of play time, thus I'm only unlocked up to the128 player map Acquistion and i've have done 3 equipment upgrades with skill points.
So far, loving it.

If you get in a squad with several half intelligent people with headsets, who work togther, the game takes on a whole different tack.

One thing I noticed is fire superiority. Nothing like seeing a large no. of lines of tracer heading toward a single enemy or a group after a comm request, with a group of comrades moving to flank.

At this point the game provides APC's, HMMMV's, sentry bunkers, spawning via helo, APC, parachute. If you like FPS games this is not one to avoid. But, only my opinion.

Analog stick + FPSFreek = immediate improvement. I like these.

I think Zipper did a great job.
 
i got the game, playing on valor. I got up to ~lvl6 from what i played last night. Really fun game, but like a lot of fps games, it can get really bad if the teammates don't know what they're doing. When you get a good game it's awesome though. I joined a clan but I haven't actually gotten to play with the set group yet, i'll let you know how it is with an organized squad after i try it out.

People just like to hate on hyped games for no reason. If they dont like it they say it is the biggest piece of garbage ever created....its stupid.
 
I was hooked in beta and enjoy MAG a lot, just seems to be a lot of players used to concentrating on individual acheivements not realizing that everyone does better if the whole team wins.This is a team based game that only works if people work together as a team. Once you get on a well organized team and run thru a mission you see the fun that the game can be.uimbius on Valor I don't get a lot of kills and die a lot but I have fun.

Yeah, and people like to drool over me-too, been-there, done-that gameplay, too, right before dropping $60 on a game they've essentially played over and over and over and over again. Go figure.
 
Still on the fence about htis one, I got into one of the later betas but real life got in the way of any serious play time. I did enjoy what time I did spend playing it, kinda reminded me of BF2. Might see about renting it this weekend.

Nice. I was wanting to play around with the different factions. Does anyone know if there are different starting weapons for each faction?
 
they have diffrent versions of the same types of weapons with slightly different stats on them. The valor starting assault rifle for example has a higher rate of fire but less power than the sver version.
