How many years back was it when it was still possible to build a PC entirely with components that were made in the U.S.A. ?
 
probably early 80sn -before consolidated chip sets on all motherboards /expansion cards first appeared
 
Until the early 80s floppy disk drives were still made in the US. Same for RAM chips, but the Japanese companies came on strong with 16Kb and then 64 Kb chips.
