AMD Subreddit: AMD Macau NDA ends on 29 June 2016 9AM ET • /r/Amd

They are still releasing info at Computex so there is that. Also its possible this is just a worst case date and they may pull up the NDA release if they are ready before then.

They probably weren't and it was a mistake (or was it? ;)) and the image has since been removed along with the schedule.

Which is why I posted it in the other thread to get it on record in case they removed it.

Yep, looks like no Polaris until July. AMD is well and truly behind the 8-ball now, giving Nvidia an enormous opportunity.

Polaris doesn't compete with the 1080, and the 1070 isn't launching until June 10th. Then we have to consider FE vs AIB models, maybe AMD will have everything ready by June 29th around the time the custom 1070's launch. Not a big deal.

Damn the internet rumor mill works fast. :) You see how fast they picked up on that?

Why is everyone assuming the NDA is for Polaris?

The June 29th date could even be for an early Vega/Zen info release (paper launch/preview/etc.)

Unless there are separate NDAs then everything covered at the event is NDA'd until June 29th, which would include Polaris.

I know AMD is a global company and all and America isn't the centre of the world (proudly Canadian by the way). But doesn't it seem really weird to anyone that this NDA expires on a Sunday of a long American Weekend?
me too eh! our long weekends over lap that's like the "Super North American Independence Weekend"!
does seem long!

June 29 is a Wednesday. Are you looking at May 29?

No it is not...... Guys this NDA is for Polaris P10, P11 cards, there is no attachements to other things, NDA's aren't done that way. The information shared at Editor's day and what ever the reviewers get from doing tests with the cards can't be directly told to anyone that doesn't have an NDA in place.

if we don't here leaks, that is not a good sign.....
Well it doesn't look like anybody is getting review samples. Seems like it was just an overview for Polaris leading into Computex.
The real question is: Was there anything worth leaking?

true, they might be getting samples at a later date, but they would have gotten briefed on performance increases from Tonga. No one wants to spill the beans lol.

Yeah I saw the ebducan post about breaking NDA's linked from here to another forum, which come on that is every NDA, and giving out hints in a round about way you can always circumvent that, this always happens with new launches too.

PS this is a Tonga replacement.

There was speculation about what the event was covering but the newest photo clearly shows the Polaris Event embargo ends on June 29th.
We can assume this means reviews will be posted on June 29th, and that the cards will go on sale at the earliest on that date.

Doubt Zen/Vega was even covered.

Yep, all that speculation about the subject of the NDA is gone, that slide calls it "Polaris Tech Day". Can't be any clearer than that.

I don't think AMD is really making 1070 people hold off. 1070/1080 won't probably be widely available until almost end of june or early july. 1070 can't be had until june 10th, and that's only for founders edition. So looks to me AMD won't have any issues when if they have nda until the 29th. May be this will be a hard launch at the end of the month and amd finally changing things up for once with all these damn paper launches. If the card is hard launched on the 29th, than its not that bad at all.

May be the are just giving all the AIB partners to launch all the custom versions like they said earlier that they won't be limited to reference design and tweak it to their will.

Well I am hoping AMD gives out cards for testing and feedback - including HardOCP. That is if AMD wants truthful and too the point feedback. If they wait til almost when the NDA is up then they should get an egg in the face.

So, someone was willing to break contract and reveal the NDA closure date, but UN-willing to break contract and share any ACTUAL information?

What the hell!?

I do too, but it looks like trust isn't there between the two. But I still hope AMD does it as a sign of good faith and we all get over this back and forth.

Pretty sure [H] can just buy a card. They won't get any pre-release head start, but it's not the end of the world.

End of July for Polaris. Could they be doing another revision spin to solve heat issues?
And Vega pushed up to October almost on top of Polaris.
If that doesn't tell you AMD is @#$@#$ their pants about 1080/1070 nothing will.

And the thing is, I can't see how AMD screwed this up so bad. It's not like nvidia made a deal with the devil to put Karl Rove evilness into every chip an invoked another form of transistor from HELL. The differences in algorithms should be minor for major shading pipeline functions. Please tell me AMD isn't hard pushing FP32 so hard?

One possible reason for the screwing would be them attempting to redesign GCN to get higher clock speeds out of it. Something broke and now they're scrambling to fix it.

It'll be the first time they optimise for higher clocks, so it's plausible that they done fucked up. But that's only if they went the higher clocks route.

Maybe AMD's in on it, prompting someone to leak this information and stir up some buzz while they work out whatever last minute issues they have going on that prevent them from selling the cards.

For my part, I'm rooting for AMD. I was disappointed, for reasons I can't articulate, with my GTX970, and pretty happy with the 290X I traded it for, and am hoping AMD can put up a desirable product by the end of the year or early next year, when I think I'll be due to upgrade. Also, the way nVidia did the 1080 launch just rubbed me the wrong way. I wish there were a third option in this market to consider, like Intel or PowerVR or something.

Not a chance. That kind of redesign doesn't occur in 1-2 months. It's not as simple as a respin, crank the clocks, and test for heat.
