Mac G5 System

I haven't touched a Mac since the original back in the '80s. Curiosity is killing me though.

I was looking at this deal over at Geeks.com

So... what do I need to know about Macs and about this one? Is the latest OS still compiled for the PowerPC architecture? Will this be a pretty cool buy for $279 bucks? Or total waste of money?

Total waste.

You cannot get OS's after Tiger I believe on PPC.

You can, but it is a pain to make it work. I would not waste my time on anything other than intel based Macs unless you just wanna try OSX. In that case, you really wanna tray Snow Leopard to get the full idea of OSX. I have a Dual 2 GHz G5 that still runs from the original launch and I love mine. Never had a problem.
