First - mods if this is in the wrong place please move it

I have a 1090T in an asus M4N82 running at full load 24/7 but my cpu temps are on the high side due to the cpu fan not spooling up correctly. Until the other day if the cpu got warmer the fan got faster upto its max of 6300rpm however it has stopped doing that and just idle's along at 3200rpm no matter what the cpu temp is.

Does anybody have any idea how to solve this i am worried that i am going to cook the cpu before too long.
So far i've tried looking at the bios options but can't make out whats going on with cool n quiet, hardware monitor or C1E
installed asus probe but that did nothing apart from lower the fan speed further
Installed speedfan but that just keeps crashing
tried a different HSF with only a 3pin connector - no joy there
plugged the hsf into a different fan header but still no joy

Well your on the right track, its either the fan or the motherboard. I would recommend finding a new pwm 4 pin fan for the cpu HS and try that first as it is cheaper and easier than replacing the MB.

well i would say its hard to say based on what you've told us.

when you say you tried a different HSF with only a 3pin, did it not spin at its full speed? if so i would say it very unlikely that two of your fans would be defective (albeit possible).

on a contrasting note, the above statement would lead me to believe it was your mobo, however if plugging you HSF into another header provided the same results (only spinning at 3200rpm etc etc) then it sounds like your HSF is defective.

i would take bill's advice but you may have compounding issues giving the illusion the problem is much more complicated than it really is. hopefully you get it all worked out...best of luck

actually no.. the full speed on the fan is 3200rpm's.. when using the fan controller on the motherboard or cool 'n quiet the fan can reach 6200rpm's.. ive run the same stock fan hes running now with Qfan turned off on my motherboard and it sits at 3200rpm's 24/7 turn qfan on and it will ramp up to 6200rpm's under load..

either 1 the fan controller is no longer controlling the fan speed.. 2. if you updated the bios that may have changed something.. 3. it could be the motherboard but the only way to be sure is like Bill suggested with getting a different 4 pin fan and testing it..

all that i was saying was that with qfan on, if none of your hsf's spin up to 6200 under load, i would guess its probably not your fans. however, when he stated that he plugged the hsf into a different header and it still wouldn't spin up to 6200, made me think it was the fan...could be compound issues

in retrospec, the cheapest thing to replace is the fan and you def need to try a 4pin if you have't already. i would also check all things software from bios updates/settings to mobo manufacture software. if none of those seem to work and all hsf's are having the same problem i would have to say its ur mobo
