LulzSec Opens A Request Line

I work for a phone company and considering the RSA FOB keys have been comprimised, if this is a number setup on a VOIP PRI it could very well be setup on a hacked PBX, EZ.

You guys keep talking about the victims here being blameless because they shouldn't have to invent a better lock, but take a bank analogy:

Do you think it's ok if a bank stores all of your money in a wooden shed with a simple lock? Wouldn't you demand as much security for your money as possible?

It seems to me that we're indirectly benefiting from these attacks by (hopefully) forcing these companies to take security a little bit more seriously.

Looks like they just hit the CIA site. I doubt government secrets are stored on the web server though. :D I'd be more impressed if they got into something a bit more serious than that.

@Kuraudo: Businesses that accept this type of data should be responsible to keep security vulnerabilities patched, and keep their networks secure. However, that doesn't mean they're 100% secure. Does that mean I should say "hey thanks guys for taking my information, and doing who knows what with it in the name of good security?" No.

Companies boosting their security is a byproduct of this. I expect due diligence, and a little on top of that, but no matter how secure a company is, they're not impenetrable. I'd still place most of the blame on the hacker.

I said it before, but some of their hacks are more amusing than others. (CIA is funny to me, Bethesda Software is less so, it's just a game company, and they're holding individuals' private information.)

It's not black and white, but I tend to sympathize with the game companies, where I don't as much with the large corporations or governments.
 
Only a matter of time before the authorities catch up with them...I give them a month.

Was the hacking competition just an SQL injection or something else easy? If so, I need to start getting into these competitions :D

LOL. I enjoy watching the newbs opine on security.

As has been stated by others: getting taken down by DDOS != bad security. Even rejecting connections takes bandwidth.

These guys are getting tiresome. Everytime I hear someone talk about or for these assklownz I visualize Comic Book Guy saying it and it just fits.

If you're in Detroit, they will steel anything and everything and head to the pawn shop with it. Pawn shops as a whole are making more $$$ than the Big Three in Michigan

"Vandals" is the strongest word that can reasonably used to describe anything they've done so far. "Terrorist" is laughable, unless not being able to log in to LoL is considered terrifying these days.

7eleven cell phones are anonymous, use VOIP and VPN, and there is the good old public telephone box too. Not that I am interested in calling the number, just saying.
 
It makes me think these people are paid to do this by the government to really motivate more laws to get pushed through to further erode our rights. Never have hackers been so out in the open flaunting people like this. Smart individuals know to keep their heads low to decrease risk of being caught.

I wonder this as well. I'm also curious as to whether or not our government (US) will begin by recruiting cyber "armies" etc. to combat cyber threats! :S

Interesting points. I don't know if that's the best idea though. I've known a lot of hackers, and they're not exactly the most loyal types where these sorts of things are concerned.

This is all one big ploy to push more internet regulation (aka taking away our freedoms) on us. This is bullshit.
