I wanted to get a camera for an upcoming trip to Australia - one that had a good reputation, was easy to use, and would not set me back a lot of money. I won an Canon EOS 300D on eBay for $370 including shipping. I have heard that the kit lens is pretty decent for what is is and read the reviews on DPReview

My question is for low light photography (sunrises, sunsets) will a monopod work or should I get a tripod?
Holding something still for 20sec or so may be a bit ambitious - especially for a coffee drinker.
