Presenting the latest metric for gaming performance: Lost Planet 2 Benchmark

I bet Kyle's going to have a [H]-on for this benchmark. It uses "real world gameplay," meaning instead of being on a track it is played by AI. This bench kicked my computer's ass.

(Yes, this screenshot was grabbed during my benchmark using FRAPS.)

Get the 1GB download here: http://nzone.com/object/nzone_lostplanet2_downloads.html

If you choose to post your results please include a screenshot of the results (behind a text link), your resolution, AA Level, DX11 Level, CPU info, GPU info (including driver version) and RAM info.

Run the bench with whatever settings best suit your system and share! This isn't an e-peen competition, this is to compare hardware performance and ensure our systems are pumping out all the performance they should.

For reasonably high end rigs, to best compare with other posters, please use these settings:
Display Mode: Full Screen
VSync: Off
Motion Blur: On
Shadow Detail: High
Texture Detail: High
Rendering Level: High
DX11 Level: High or Medium (If running in DX11)
If any of these settings are changed, please make sure to log them in your post!

PS: Native resolution, 0xAA and DX11: Medium make a great base line!

If you're running SLI, you must download the 8/16/2010 SLI profile update!

In DX9, my 5850 walks all over everything except the 5870 and GTX 480. But in DX11, even a GTX 460 is faster than my 5850. Based on the visuals, I'll be playing in DX9 and getting 80 FPS. It doesn't look good enough in DX11 to cut my framerate by almost 75%.

Looks pretty sweet to me.

Rig in sig, though CPU is at stock ATM. I ran it at my native res. of 1920x1200. Default settings.

I averaged 40.3FPS with all 3 tests.

I will set the CPU OC again and see if it improves any. Guess this benchmark just made up my mind on a second 5870.

P.S.

42.6 @ 3.93Ghz.

I've already posted my results in the thread i made, but since it's been buried I'll post them here. Test was done at 1920*1200 with 4xAA/16xAF with every in-game setting at high.

Test A:

Test B

Even though the framerates are mostly in the 30- 40 range, it still felt pretty smooth. Hopefully that won't change once I'm actually playing it and not watching. Loved the first one and can't wait to play this.

test B DX9 @ highest settings with a Toshiba Qosmio Laptop edit: 1366x768 with the stock drivers that came with it.

thats 3d surround at massive res bro.

Correct. 3D = 2 frames, so it's the equivalent of running 10080x1050 @ 14.6 fps.

Still not playable. When I get home, I'll try 3840x800 (3x1280x800) and 4320x900 (3x1440x900) at 0xAA and DX 11: Medium.

Is there something wrong with the drivers or does the game look really good? A pair of GTX 480 should be destroying this.

yeah IRSmurf never even acknowledged your thread and kept right on trucking...

Someone commented in a previous LP2 benchmark thread the game did not look good.

I have to disagree and say Lost Planet 2 looks VERY good. It looks better than Crysis (one) and I'd say it looks even better than Just Cause 2. The player models, enemies, and environments are phenomenal in 4xMSAA.

A friend of mine told me this game looks as good as the expectations he had Mafia II. (Which looks good, but completely failed to deliver the phenomenal PC superiority we dreamed of after reading its recommended specs.)

I acknowledge there was another thread that didn't ask people to post results or request specific information with the results, it simply said there was a benchmark. The OP got a D for effort if his intentions were to create a benchmark results thread.

See: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1526223

I don't post to win or to put my name on big threads. I post to maximize the usefulness of the collected data. If it's not in the first post, no one will read it.

Would you mind posting your:
GPU model, including driver version if you can be bothered
CPU clocks, if overclocked
Amount of RAM
Resolution (Native doesn't equate to anything if we don't know the model of your monitor)
most of that is in his sig

Been looking at results @ Anand and Xtremesystems too. Man ATi cards get beat down under DX11 with this bench. DX9 is perfectly fine though. If you want to run SLi with it grab the profile from nVidia.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia-multigpu-SLI-profile-update-v5-driver.html

Thanks for the update. I'll use the SLI profile update tonight and look for performance increases. I'll be impressed if I was pulling all this performance on just one card's processing power.

did you ever think that just maybe this game is optimized to run on Nvidia's hardware?

Obvious butthurt. That doesn't change what he said. It's optimized for NVIDIA. It runs faster on NVIDIA. So do most other games. (Either optimized for NVIDIA or just better performing on NVIDIA.) Slimy? Yes. Best performing? Still, yes.

Yeah, i just switched from a 5870 to a 480, and my FPS in this particular bench doubled.

My FPS just doubled. 100% scaling. Seriously. Good stuff!

Old: 57.7 fps Results
New: 110.4 fps Results

obvious mentally challenged comment here lol thanks for the beyond obvious statement lol.....

Ya' some folks on nVNews are loving the SLi profile update too :)

As far as the ATi vs nVidia thing goes if were buying today and looking to run DX11 maxed with AA @ 1920x I'd buy GTX 460 1Gb SLi and manually OC them or look for a deal on 470s.

Nice scaling on the 480 SLI IRSmurf. I'm hoping to get another GTX 480 before the end of the year.

With my rig at 1920x1080 and everything on high, I got:
- Test A: 56.7FPS
- Test B: 49.4FPS

I couldnt get the benchmark to run on either test 1 or test 2 in DX11 mode as it would give me an error and make me close the application. In DX9 mode it fine with an average of 84.2 fps.

I had to disable Crossfire to get DX11 to run. DX9 ran just fine in crossfire. I was suprised to see in DX9, huge cpu usage in test B. It used about 85% of all 6 cores on my machine.
