Lost Everything

Hello...
In a fit of sure stupidity, I repartitioned my hard drive and lost everything. Until a couple of days ago, I have a 15GB partition for os, programs, and temp. I had the rest (125GB or so) as backup. Of course, that's where all of my things of importance were (downloaded files, movies, mp3s, etc...). Of course, just losing everything is lame, but what's really bad is that I'm in the process of working on a wedding dvd and that's where the video files were.
I shouldn't have overwritten that section of hard drive, yet, as I just created a 5GB partition for os and such, and haven't even used it up.
I know there are programs like restoration that will recover deleted files, but what about a deleted partition?
This is very much lame.

First off, stop using the drive. If you just reformatted, all it really does (unless you used something like autoclave or dban or zeroed the drive) is just delete references to files, so some of the data still exists, you just can't access it. If you keep using it now, you're just eating away at potentially recoverable files.

I think the Ultimate boot CD has file recovery tools - look into that.

Seconded. There is a utility or two on the UBCD that should allow you to recover your "deleted" partitions.
 
Well you still have your health.. look into a program called getdataback for ntfs. I reformatted my drive once, put it in as a secondary on another computer, and used the software to get back all the data. It takes a while to search the drive, but if your data is there, it will find it.

I tried the ubcd and it found a partition. It wouldn't write it back, though, as it was a demo. GetDataBack worked like a charm. Of course, the demo for it didn't work either, but it was a windows program so it saved some time. I think I pretty well have everything squared away. I ran out of space on the copy drive a couple of times, so I have to double-check.
