I would like to comment that the demo is unnecessarily long. And for some reason, it crashes every time right near the end where the helicopter is being shot at by rockets. I've never had lost coast crash before.

Uneccessarily long? I thought it was rather short myself. And it wasn't strictly a demo, though that was it's primary purpose. It was an addition to the storyline of HL2.

And what do you mean you've never had lost coast crash before? It was just released.

I am having a hudge problem.

System in my sig, I get around 30 FPS with 1260x1020(or whatever is closest)

I have the lastest 81.85 drivers, and i max all the settings out. I have Dual 7800GTX BFG OC and my CPU ( X2 3800+) oced at 2.5GHz.

30 is about max in lost coast, can anyone help me?

What settings specifically are you running? Are you forcing anything in the drivers? Also, how is your normal hl2/css performance? What do you get on the css stress test?

I am doing all the settings in game, 4xAA, all in game, i will do a stress test right now for css, i just lowered all the settings to the lowest they can go and i get 30FPS, i have a score of 11,000 on 3Dmark05.

System in my sig, all stock.

HDR ON: 29.34 fps

I think the fact that my vid card is "broken" throws this benchmark off on my end.

I jsut did the stress test with 1600x1200 with 4xAA, 16xAF. and i get 46FPS.

I used to get 155FPS with a single 7800GTX same settings and i used my DFI Ultra-D Nf4 mobo.

Now i use the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium with Dual 7800GTX SLI.

I have a 500W PSU.

That's messed up. Do you have the latest bios from asus? I'd probably reinstall the video card drivers if I was in your position (use drivercleaner in between).

I pulled 33.7 FPS in your timedemo , 1600X1200 2XQAA 4XAF , Using the 81.85 WHQL Drivers , system in my sig.

49.43 fps

K8v Deluxe
3400 (clawhammer) @ stock speeds
1 gig Corsair XMS ram
Audixy 2
6800gt @ stock speeds

latest official drivers for everything (execpt for my soundcard).
My 15" lcd has a max res of 1024 by 768 tho, so keep that in mind.

edit: oh yea, in game setting on max (including water reflection), 4x AA and 8x AF.

Wow you should be getting more than that, I force 4x AA and 8x AF through the drivers everthing maxed, full HDR, v-sync off, I get 102 fps max and it dips down to the low 30s, 50s to 60s average though. What do you get in F.E.A.R. ?

I'm speaking in reference to the TIMEDEMO that was posted. If you run it, it plays through the entire level in a fairly slow manner. I must have been just sitting there watching the demo play through for like 5 minutes or more and didn't even finish. In the timedemo, near what I assume is the end (right where the last commentary is supposed to be where Newell announces that it is the end of the level), the timedemo will cause Lost Coast to crash. When I just play through it, I don't have any problems.

Hi,

Well I tested it out with 2 resolutions

at 1920/1200 with everything on high with 4x/8x I get 36 fps avg

at 1280/1024 with everything on high with 4x/8x I get 67 fps avg

Without HDR I get:

at 1920/1200 with everything on high with 4x/8x I get 60 fps avg

So resolution here is really giving me a massive performance hit!! Nearly 100% more frame between 1280/1024 and 1920/1200

Damn 24 inch :p

I have a score of 11000 in 3Dmark05 too except that I'm using 2x 6800 gt, and a little 3200+ lol

3700+@2.7Ghz
Rest of system as in sig. Stock GFX card speed.
1024x768 4XAA 8XAF, everything maxed. VSync Disabled.
20527 frames 275.053 seconds 74.63 fps 8.199 fps variability

4000+ A64
X850 XT Crossfire
Cards and cpu stock
1GB RAM

1280 by 1024 all high with HDR no AA/ 4AF

74FPS average

Here is what my system was autodetected as...

A64 3000+ @ 2300
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200 @ 210Mhz 2-3-2-5
6800nu 12/6 @ 400/815 w/ 81.85 High Quality

Results...run @ 1024X768
No HDR
57.72 fps w/ 6.473 fps variability
HDR Bloom
46.55 fps w/ 4.274 fps variablility
HDR Full
36.99 fps w/ 5.187 fps variability

However, while actually playing the demo* my FPS were usually under 30 (I'd guess 20-25 average) with HDR on Full with the recommended settings.

Oh, my bad.

System in my sig, I get noticable slowdown at 1600x1200, just doesn't feel very smooth.

@1280x1024, High Quality, 4x Trans SSAA 16xAF, everything maxed: 43.47fps

Did the same thing at 1680x1050 (native resolution) and got 30 something.

With AdaptiveAA enabled with the ASTT reg hack, 1280x1024 2xAA (TAA enabled too), 4x AF, 3700+ A64 250Mhzx11, 4x512M 8,2,2,2.0 2T, X850XT 550/550... 27.7 FPS. All ingame settings on max, HDR full, etc.

I love it. :D I had 7800GTX SLI. (I own a gaming system company so I can play with lots of hardware.) The 7800 GTX SLI was fast but the IQ was no were near as good as ATI IMOA.

The biggest issue with X850 in Crossfire is not being able to run at 1600 by 1200 above 60hz. I really miss playing games at that resolution. The High AA and AF makes up for much of it but I still miss it. For me I am waiting for X1800 XT CF. I have a X1800 XT sample card and it runs real nice. (I am not using it as it is for a system I am building for review.) As said many time X1K CF does not have the 60Hz limitation so I can't wait to have it myself.

49.3 @1920x1200 w/ HDR
14.2 framerate variability
everything on high settings
4x/8x AA/AF

73 @1920x1200 w/o HDR
14.7 framerate variability
everything on high settings
4x/8x AA/AF

specs in sig are incorrect, im at stock 425/1050 clocks on my video cards
(waitin for new riva tuner)

Guess it's time for me to let go of my old athlon xp and get a 64. HDR On, 4x/8x AA/AF, 1280x1024 everything else set to max

31.12 1.25 frames variable.

Sigh, she's served me so well.
