Over the holiday the wife and I cleaned out the computer room. We unhooked everything left it overnight, then plugged it (the ASUS system) back in. Upon boot up the date, time and all my custom settings were messed up. It was prompting me to set up raid which I'm not even using. After resetting everything worked fine. This has happened a couple of times before.

What would cause this ?

I'm thinking it is the MB battery going bad...

Battery has to be the prime suspect, I had to change one recently because of the same symptons, which it cured.

Yep, sure sounds like you battery died.
My old rig used to lose all it's settings everytime I turned it off because of the battery.

So where on the net is the best place to get a replacment battery ?

Thanks !

CR3032 or something like that :). I don't remember off the top of my head.

It's a Sony CR2032, I can get it at RadioShack just around the corner from me.

Any special procedule or things to be carefull of to install besides taking out and putting in ?

I assume my custom settings will be lost...

Yes, you'll have to reset your bios settings. I don't think you need any special precautions...maybe reset the CMOS, but I'm not sure it will do anything.
