I want to upgrade my headphone to something more high end but i need to upgrade my source first.Anyone know where to get a lossess format without buying cds?

You're pretty much stuck with buying the CDs or downloading those linux .iso's yourself.

Some artists will sell lossless copies of their new albums directly to fans alongside the MP3s, but that's rare.

Is this a trick question? There is the obvious but unspoken answer related to the millions of people who rip their CD's into lossless formats for their own personal use...

But I'm also curious if there are any legit vendors who sell individual .flac or lossless songs as well. With hard drive space so cheap, lossless makes a lot of sense for your desktop PC or HTPC if you have a choice. Damn studios should really get their act together one day instead of suing everyone.

I have a SONY dynamic stereo headphones MDR-7506 which is good enough for me. Don't really hear much noise on the outside. Has good bass, nice look, good for muting out unwanted sounds, but tends to get your ears sweaty after long hours.

Good Luck!

Interestingly enough I bought a live soundboard recording of a Metallica show directly off the band's website back in 2001 or 2002. In FLAC. METALLICA.

or downloading those linux .iso's yourself.

This. Getting FLACs from CDs is just too much trouble especially with old drives that don't support decent hardware error detection and if you can't find reliable checksums, so it's best to leave it to the pros.
