looking to upgrade

am looking to upgrade from a amd xp 2000 to a 3800 x2, its been awhile since i've looked at any cpu (four plus years, maybe).. whats the difference with these, am not planing in OC (maybe)..

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core Processor Socket AM2 Windsor 2.0GHZ 2X512KB 89W 90NM

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE Dual Core Processor AM2 Windsor 2.0GHZ 512KBX2 65W 90NM

i see the EE and 89w or 65w, help me out. am looking for MB too sub $130 or less..

id go with the low power one.i almost picked one up a few days ago with mobo for 89 bucks they oc very well

If you're buying a new motherboard and are in this price range, why do you want to go for AMD? In your price range it would be cheaper to go with a Core2Duo and you would get way better performance out of it.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Dual Core Processor LGA775 1.8GHZ 800FSB 2MB Retail

if so this is double the cost of the amd, i like the 2mb with the intel..

if so this is double the cost of the amd, i like the 2mb with the intel..

The 4300 is dropping in price to around $120. At that price it might be worth picking one up over the 3800+.

too late now, got the 3800+ for $97 CND the lowest i've seen the e4300 is $174 CND..
