Hi,
Looking to buy a new PC as my current 4-yr-old one is acting up
Have come up with a rough idea that fits my budget (below), but am not a hardware guy and as such do not know if this is what I should be getting.
Anyway, thinking of:
CPU - i5-760 2.80GHz / LGA1156 / 8MB / 45nm
Motherboard - P7H55-M/USB3
GFX - GT430
Memory - KHX1600C8D3T1K2/4GX
Harddisk - WD Caviar Black WD6402AAEX (640Gb SATA-III)
Case - Cooler Master Elite 310
PSU - Hybrid 2 RX-530SS 530W
Total price for that is 20,280 Baht.
Answers to the questions requested:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly for work, i.e. building web applications, a bit of Photoshop, general PC use (i.e. email, web, messenger, etc) and probably a bit of gaming, but nothing major. Have a PS3 for the gaming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Budget is about 20,000 Baht (~US$700)
3) Where do you live?
Bangkok, Thailand
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, motherboard, RAM, gfx, harddisk, case and PSU; cooling would be good as well.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Just the monitor, DVD burner and small stuff (webcam, speakers, mouse, keyboard).
6) Will you be overclocking?
No.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I have a 22" widescreen Acer running at 1680x1050. HDMI / DVI out on the gfx card is preferable.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Preferably within the next few days.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Nothing major. I guess USB 3.0 would be good seeing that will be the new standard soon-ish.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
No, not yet, but seriously considering buying Vista (would appreciate options for this as well, need not be part of the budget mentioned). I can buy Home Basic 32-Bit here for about $30 less than Premium. Don't care about WMC or Aero, nor do I use a network (just a Wifi router with a Linux machine and a laptop connecting). Sounds like I could use Basic, but not 100% sure.
Additional info:
Would like this machine to last me a couple of years.
Not a fan of on-board graphics, and would prefer to use an nVidia-based gfx card.
