Hey gang,

I've been sorta out of the loop since I built my last PC back in 2006 and I'm looking to buy or build a new rig. This will be used for some not-so-demanding gaming (WoW) as well as the normal internet (facebook/youtube) activities and homework (MS Office suite). Long story short, my PC is just getting old. The hard drives are going, the CPU is running hot b/c the cooler is failing and the GPU just started artifacting on me while playing games and is now crashing them every time.

Here's my issue - While I would love a high end gaming rig, I just don't need one. My current PC has all the power I really need. I'm currently running a C2D 6300 build on a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Mobo, ab 8600GT and 6 GB of DDR2 RAM (1x1x2x2). With that in mind, what would you suggest?

I don't need a keyboard, mouse, monitor or printer and I have a licensed copy of Win7 Home Premium that I can use, if needed. I will likely bring over my 320G Seagate Barracuda as a secondary backup drive, but I don't trust it and will want 1-2 moderate sized drives as primary and primary backup. (When I say reasonable sized, I'm thinking under a TB. Even my current 320G is half empty at the moment. Thanks for any suggestions and let me know if you have questions. I don't have a real price ceiling or floor (is ~$500 reasonable?), I'd just like to see some suggestions and go from there. Thanks!

As requested:

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Not-so-demanding gaming (WoW) as well as the normal internet (facebook/youtube) activities and homework (MS Office suite)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around $500 would be optimal. I can go up to $700 or so if needed.
3) Where do you live?
Cincinnati, OH
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
If not a pre-built then I will need a case, CPU, cooler, GPU, RAM (assuming my DDR2 doesnt fit) 1-2 hard drives, a mobo, PSU, associated cables & speakers (nothing fancy).
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Monitor, 1 HDD, mouse/kb, printer and my DVD drive/burner.
6) Will you be overclocking?
Most likely not.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
19" Widescreen
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Almost immediately

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Nothing fancy here. I have USB2 on mine currently and that takes care of all my needs at the moment.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes. Win7 Home Premium 64.

My specs are listed in my sig. The only changes are that I have a new PSU (corsair 650 watt) replaced a few months ago, the 8600GT and 4 more Gigs or RAM.

Any chance that you can hold off another week or so to buy your parts? I ask because that way you can take advantage of Newegg's January combo deals which will save you money. Or can you buy certain parts before the 31st of December?

In any case, you're definitely looking at a $700 build. You should be able to reuse the Corsair 650TX but thats about it.
