Looking for the perfect case to mod.

Hey everybody.
After years (and I mean YEARS) of false starts and attempts to mod several cases (ran out of time/interest), I have decided that my son's X-mas gift will be his own rig with a sweet case. I just can't get motivated to do things for myself (parental curse?), but I really want to do this for him. So... I have already started buying the hardware, but I ran into a wall when I started looking for a case.
A canvas on which I can work wonders...
Or something like that. I am looking for a case with a nice, flat front. I want enough space to drill a hole for an 80 or 120 mm fan. It's going to look kinda' like a jet intake. About three 5 1/2" drive bays. I am not worried about the position of the power switch, that will be relocated to the top of the case (I will be using one of those emergency Halon buttons... the big red ones!). Anyhow, I need the front to look clean and flat. I am going for a military look. Any ideas? Links?
Thanks!

If it's for a kid make sure you teach him to keep his fingers away from the open front! :)

heh... He learned that lesson early in life. Still has all of his fingers. Actually, he is going to be 14 in January. We have been sharing the same PCs, but at this point, he does so much (level design, etc...) he needs his own.

Dragon case? Who makes that?

what specs are you putting in that PC?

Well, I'll leave the tweaking to him, but I thought I'd start him off with:

Asrock K7V88 with VIA KT880 chipset.
AMD Barton 3000 @333
Dual 512 Geil (or equivalent quality)
2 WD, 80 Gb, SATA HDD (raid 0)
GeForce FX5700 (maybe the Albatron)
Thermaltake Silent 480 w PSU

Monitor (TBD)
I figgure that'l set him up for a while.

After hunting around a bit, I saw this.
Not bad. And at ~40.00, I can afford to screw up and start over again.
I'm thinking it has a plastic front bezel, so that's cool. I am assuming it isn't painted, just a coating of some sort.
Feedback on my tentative choice?
Thanks. :)

STOP.NOW.

ur spoiling ur kid. i mean seriously tho, a freaking custom rig for christmas? who are you, bill gates? dude if ur gonna give him a *killer* rig, at least make him built it himself aka earn it.

Are you sure your kid cares about a custom case? Just get him a nice lian-li case, or just a basic case and spend more money on the specs - 64 instead of XP Barton

Btw, it's cool that you and your son both like computers. My dad can just surf the web.

He did buy new computers for me and my brother last Christmas though.. Well the parts for me to build them. My mom wrapped all the individual parts up so it was like I had a lot of presents lol (well someone of them she grouped together, and some were just pictures of what the part was). If he hasn't ever built a computer, maybe you should do that and then help him build his own.. would be a learning experience too. but maybe he already knows..

If you want an aluminum body with good quality build but a plain bezzel to work with, that'd be a good choice indeed. It's amongst the cheaper ones but it has a couple extra nice features (rubber bushings for the hard drives, the split connector for the front LED/buttons, etc.).

I'm mentioning it again 'cuz if you're doing some extensive bezzel work aluminum can be much easier to work with than plastic (which melts), 'course it's costlier.. $80 or so for the case, all depends on your budget.
