Hey all, im looking into getting studio mointers for my comp because i do alot of music production. Though i have no idea what speakers that are good for 150 200 range.

Right now im runnning creative 7.1 speakers (for gameing) on my X fi card. So basicly ill just take out the front speaker jack and put the new speakers in i assume.

If any of you know some good monitors leme know. Thank you!

EDIT: Also i need to keep my sub that i have curently because all the 7.1 speakers go into it, so im just looking for 2 speaker system. Its also vital that the sound that is produced my the monitors arent too bassey, im trying to get some "flat" speakers that give me a clean sound of what im producing.

I've heard and auditioned numerous monitors (KRK, JBL, Genelec, Tannoy, Dynaudio, etc.), but none in the sub-$200 range. Good monitors just aren't built within that price range. Behringer's Truth series might be a "okay" start, but they aren't sub-$200, either. Manufacturers just don't move the kind of volume to be able to sell products at low margins -- that's just the nature of the beast.

If you're doing production in any professional capacity, form a S corp (or an LLC) and borrow against the corporation for equipment you need. That's typical practice. There are great monitors in the $500/each range.

ok well, im not professional....im 17 , but i got a good understanding of what im doing....
And my Entertainment LLC wouldnt do it for me cause right now we are just DJing basically, no producing yet....

I just need better speakers then im currently using, because they just dont give me enough

I've seen KRK and Alesis monitors on eBay for around $200. They were clearance items, but that might be the best you can hope for in your price range.

OK see now another problem im having is i dont have XLR inputs on my creative mixer....and i dont want to go out buying another mixer just for XLR ports. Are there any adapters to where i can go from 3.5 jack to xlr?

The idea behind using XLR or TRS inputs is that it gives you the capability to use a balanced connection, but only if you use XLR or TRS on both ends of the chain. If you don't, the signal then becomes unbalanced.

Yeah, you can buy (or make) cables that will do what you want (1/8" Stereo Mini Male to Stereo RCA Female -> RCA Male to XLR), but that yields an unbalanced connection.

I honestly think you're barking up the wrong tree with the kind of budget you have to work with.

Time to mow some lawns for an extra $100, you'll have a few more options then. :p
