I right now have the Altec Lansing ACS500. They are from a long time ago, maybe 1996-97.

I am assuming that speaker technology has moved on a bit since then. Tied in with this is an eventual move to Vista64 so I imagine the sound card may be due for replacement. The sound card is currently a Xfi gamer. I have read of numerous issues getting the Xfi to play nice with Vista64. It is one of the reasons that I have not bothered with going to Vista64.

Based on some searches and just perusing the forum, the Klipsch setup seems to be the one to go with.

Are there others that I should be looking at? I do want the best 2.1 setup. The room the computer is in doesn't really allow for multiple speaker setups(4.1, 5.1, etc.). This is why I am looking for the best 2.1.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

There was just another thread just like this you might want to look for it. Off the top of my head I would say look at the Klipsch, Swan M-10, Logitech z2300 and the M-Audio Studiophile LX4.

I have kept looking around and am now leaning toward the Swan M200 speakers.

I am still looking at subwoofers. I did notice the other thread, but I didn't want to post in there since the OP seemed to be looking for a 2.1 all-in-one setup.

all in one setup?

Anyways, I have the Altec Lansing mx5021 which i picked up 3 years ago...I love it to death
And just yesterday i purchased the Klipsch Promedia 2.1s which sound good so far.
The MX5021 are discontinued i think, but there are a couple on ebay.

Newegg seems to have a really good price on the Swan M200s (the MKIIs or whatever the latest version of them are calling), like really good... I had to do a double take when I clicked on it (as it's listed higher under search results, closer to MSRP, but a good deal lower once you click thru to the product page). I wouldn't be surprised if it's a mistake tbh! :p
