Hey all, my house was burglarized recently and I'm now in the market for a new pc

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mainly gaming and photoshoping
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$800-$1000
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Us Houston txt
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Mobo processor, ram, vid card, power supply, case
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?
Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
25" 1080p
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Soon
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Nothing specific but usb 3.0 is cool
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Possibly, I had windows7 64 bit but my old pc was stolen so unless I can deactivate my old windows but I doubt it. I'd like to keep 7 if possible

Yeah unless you can recover and reactivate your Windows 7 key, looks like you're going with Windows 8.1 as it's technically faster than Windows 7 and farther away from end of support.

How soon is soon?

How long is the drive to this Microcenter?:

Sorry to hear that your home was robbed. Hope they catch the perps.

Damn, figures I'd have to upgrade to 8 enevtually.

Next week or so.

The micro center is really close, thats where I was gonna try and order the parts from. There or newegg

Thanks for that, I'm not holding my breath on them being caught

Why not stick with Win 7 for now with upgrade to Win 10 when its released!

meh, buy whatever you can find the cheapest win 7 or 8, both will be able to upgrade to win 10 for free.

Well regardless if I can get windows 7 or 8, any input on the actual build would be nice :)

Cool and thanks for the info. I have a quick question. Is a mid size tower and a full case dramatically different? Ive only ever owned full tower cases. The parts will fit in a mid size case correct?

Kinda and yes.

Kinda because there are a few mid-size cases that are only a few inches away from full tower size. With a lot of good mid-tower cases these days, there's just as much easily accessible work space compared to older full tower cases.

Yes those parts will fit in a mid-sized case just fine. Here's a similar build I did (different case but still technically "mid-tower case":

The 230T has a bit more working room than the Source 210 in the above case.
