Looking for a ''Shorter'' PSU

I'm looking for a (preferably modular) PSU in the 500-700 watt range that does not exceed 150 mm in depth. It still needs to be a standard ATX, but the case I'm putting it in is the Lian Li Q08, and reviews I have read say that a power supply that is 160mm or longer will bump into the hard drive cage.

The only one I could find so far was the Cooler Master Silent Pro 700W modular PSU, which is 150 mm in depth. Do I have any other options that might be cheaper and or better?

The rig I will use it with:

i5 2500k
GTX 460
1 SSD, 1 HD
1 CD drive
Maybe a corsair H50

Unfortunately 150mm is the length limit =( I'd love to get a seasonic built one but they're almost all 160mm or longer.

Silverstone Strider Strider Plus ST50F-P 500W. Is fully modular and only 140mm long. It's got enough juice to handle your rig. This PSU has long been in my mind for the Lian Li PC-Q08 and PC-Q11 builds.

You can even buy a shorter cable set for it to reduce the amount of cable clutter in the case, though they will run you $20-25 depending on where you find them.

If you want to go even shorter but are willing to put up with a non-modular PSU. The Nexus NX-5000 R3 is 530W and is only 125mm long.

They also have the NX-6000 R3 that is 630W in the same size housing but it's really more power than you need. Note that the endpcnoise picture is not the correct one for that model but their stats page lists the correct dimensions. http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=NX-6000_R3.html You can see the actual model looks like the NX-5000 R3 by going to the manufacturer's web site. http://www.nexustek.nl/Nexus_NX-6000_Quiet_Power_Supply_630W.htm

The NX-5000 R3 was reviewed on HardOCP: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/02/16/nexus_nx5000_r3_rx5300_psu_reviews/

Just to follow up on this, comments in the SFF section indicate several people have decided to go for that Silverstone Strider Plus 500W for their Lian Li PC-Q11 and PC-Q08 builds. Seems to fit just fine and has plenty of power for most sandy bridge + mid range graphics card setups.

I'm running my mini itx rig using the Silverstone ST50F-P no problems. it's 140mm in length, 500watt, 80 plus bronze, modular, and can use the silverstone short cable set with it. there's only one modular 8pin pci-e slot on the psu;however, comes witha splitter cable.

You can fit a slightly longer PSU by using spacers and longer nuts on the mounting plate (the one the PSU attaches to)

but the one i suggest is only 140 mm and can be short cable modular... this would be perfectly adequate for a pc-q08 mini itx rig. Also, with his particular hardware would work quite well.

Thanks for the input guys =] I've invested in the silverstone strider 500w PSU and bought the short cable kit too

don't forget to use the splitter cable included with the power supply for your video card. the short cable set doesn't include one
