Looking for a new mouse...

Hey guys, I've kinda been thinking about switching to a new mouse. Right now I'm using the Logitech G700, and while I like it I kinda feel like getting a new one (also my brother needs a new mouse and he likes mine). I've got big hands (right handed), and normally I go with palm grip, but I do switch to claw from time to time. It doesn't have to be wireless, but I do prefer having a high DPI (I normally have it around 5000 in desktop mode, and 1000 when playing). Also I'd like to have at least two buttons on the thumb rest and has to have a quick toggle for DPI. I don't have any budget in mind. Right now I've been considering the razer death adder and the roccat kone xtd, but am open to all suggestions. Thanks for your help guys

I was using both a Sensei and R.A.T. 7 (could not really get used to the weight of the R.A.T.). After a while I ordered a Roccat Kone Pure and it's a really great mouse (even if it's bit small). I have a Roccat Kone XTD coming my way this week so I'll see if it's a better fit (even if I'm really enjoying the Pure so far).

The Roccat Pure is a really well built mouse with great drivers so it should be the same for the XTD.

Don't think the G9 would fit the bill as its pretty small. Same with the Sensei which is my current favorite. If you've got big hands and use a palm grip, the G500 or G400 are the first two that come to mind. Similar in size and shape to the G700.

Mionix Naos series IMO. I use the cheaper 3200 and it's excellent. A bit on the larger side, super comfortable... Not sure how claw grip users might find it, but it's definitely better for claw grip than any smaller mouse is for palm grip.

I just switched over from a g700 to a corsair m65. And WOW! I love it! Its been my best mouse yet! I've been using it for a little over a week now. So simple in form, and the look and feel to it are excellent, very durable and good quality, and goes great with the k60.

I would definitely recommend this mouse, especially for you, because I had the exact situation as you! I wanted all the same things in a mouse, and my bro wanted my g700 too, and I just wanted a new mouse other than Logitech. Haha, you should totally get the m65. SO worth it!

I may very well do that...but I've heard the sensors on the corsair mice aren't that great. Right now I'm kinda considering between the Mionix 8200, the Razer Death Adder, the Roccat Kone XTD, and possibly something from Zowie.

You should probably listen to people who own specific mice, not people who think they know what they're talking about when it comes to sensors. Saw some morons discount Mionix on other threads solely because of the sensor, but I'm glad that I was able to use my own brain and learn that they're just wrong about that. There is much more to a mouse than just a sensor, and anything they sell today beats just about anything they sold a few years ago, anyway. People are all like "the sensor has acceleration so it sucks" and they imagine the Windows acceleration setting set to some ultra high, disruptive setting... no. It's not like that.

Also, Logitech mice are almost as overrated as Logitech PC speakers.

I know, obviously I place more emphasis on user opinions, when I have enough to think that they're somewhat representative. But a single recommendation doesn't make for objective data. I'm not saying I've totally disregarded the possibility of corsair (in fact I'm a big fan of corsair), just that it will take more than a single user liking it for me to be convinced it is good.

Roccat Kone XTD gets my vote. I upgraded from the MX518 and love it. The Mionix 8200 ended up second on my list when looking for a new mouse. Looks really good too.

I have considered the Savu L4d, but I prefer the Kone XTD over it. For now I've decided to pick up a Kone XTD, and if I'm not satisfied I'll probably return it and get a Mionix or something else. I just really like the design of the Kone XTD, as it goes well with my build.

Well got the Kone XTD and so far I absolutely love it. The texture on the mouse itself is so much nicer than what you get on the G700, and the leds really match well with my setup/build so I love that. The one gripe I have so far is that it seems for some reason that the software to program buttons doesn't allow for media controls on iTunes. I normally set two buttons on my gaming profiles to go to next and previous tracks, but they don't work with the Roccat software. Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this?

I apologize in advance that this response isn't going to be about helping you solve your problem... I don't own the mouse, nor do I do what it is you do with music.

I'm replying to ask a little more about the XTD. I'm getting the itch to to try something new. I'm currently using the Logitech G9x, and while the mouse is flawless as far as it's performance... Ever since the first day I got it, it's always felt small in my hand. I figure I'm more of a palm grip user. I like to rest my entire hand over the mouse, and I always put the maximum weight in them.

With that being said, how's the size of the XTD? I've heard some say it's a little bit bigger profile, and that's what I want. You mentioned how comfortable it was, which is another plus. At $80 bucks it's pricey enough that I wouldn't want to buy it and be disappointed, and that's really my only concern as far as it's cost. I've come to realize a long time ago that you get what you pay for in most cases concerning technology.

For anyone else with some experience, the other mouse I'm considering is the Mionix NAOS 5000. On Newegg the Kone XTD has 8 reviews with an average 5 egg rating. The Minoix has 100+ with an average 4 egg rating... And briefly looking through some of the recent reviews by customers I'm more hesitant than I was originally. But again, I've also heard good things about it, and that it's size is also more desirable for people with bigger hands/palm grip.

No worries :p

Well to give you an idea of size, it's about the same length as an iPhone 5. It is big but comfortable if you have mid to large sized hands. The soft finish feels AMAZING (esp compared to my old G700), and the buttons all have a satisfying respnose to them. The issues I had Roccat actually helped me out with (the itunes control they are aware of and are pushing a firmware update out soon to address and they told me the program seemed slow because you need to add it as an exception to windows defender). Honestly it's a bit spendy, and it it taking me a bit of time to get used to over my G700, but I would definitely recommend you try it, it's a fantastic mouse.

Knew I forgot to include something, I want to try something other than logitech, as my last several mouse have been from them, and feel like trying something different.

Nothing wrong with a little adventure i suppose;)

just unpacked my XTD, initial impression is great. will report back after some gaming.
