At the moment I have the GMC toaster case on its side. However the GTX260 only leaves about a 1/4" of clearance and pretty much seperates my case into two parts killing airflow.

I upgrade video cards every other generation and I'm worried about clearance with this new case and would like to start looking and planning now.

Before the toaster i had this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811190087 The 260 would not fit in it. Most cases I see on NewEgg have the same layout.

Thoughts?

Damn shoulda specified ATX, unless by then I invest in a micro motherboard. Which I guess is possible by the next gen vid cards.

budget is in the air, but surely not those $300+ ones with the fancy dancy lcd screens and stuff.

I'd like to keep it more simple, if i have to swap motherboards I will. I'm sure I could buy/sell/trade my current atx i7 board for a matx board and not lose any money. the main concern is fitting a card in it.

Hmm, well there are other HTPC cases that can fit the GTX 260 but only at the expense of remove HDD bays or blocking them. The only case I could find that could fit the GTX 260 reasonably well was the $250 Lian Li PC-C34F case.

Yeah you might be SOL here.

Antec Fusion for mATX
Antec Fusion MAX for ATX
Done.

very nice. the fusion is on sale on newegg, but at the moment the max is not available. ill definitely keep these in mind when it comes time for the gtx5xx or most likely the ati 6xxx series cards come out.

So casey, you're stalking me huh?? hah.

That is a nice case, however a requirement is for a full length video card. As I imagine video cards in the future might be larger than my current GTX260, which leaves literally 1/8 inch of clearance.

It may still work though depending on the card and board. Full length and low profile aren't the same topic. Low profile cards are just like 3/4ths the height of a regular card, which allows you to get a case that isn't as tall(in the case of a media center where the board is parallel to the ground)

Yea, I know what low profile is, but I'm not aware of any low profile high end gfx cards.
