Looking for a BIG case

I withdraw everything I said about the Antec Titan. Mine got here and it looked great, however I was unable to mount my motherboard in it. It has 6 fixed stand offs in the ATX area and no pre-drilled holes for any more standoffs in the ATX are. While the AN8 SLI has all the standard ATX mounting holes two of these are not reinforced, and one is partially blocked but an IDE header. Unfortunately, the Titan has two of its fixed mounting stand-offs at these two holes, leaving just four standoffs on which to mount the motherboard. All this aside, I figured I make do somehow and eased the motherboard into the case and lined up the mounting holes with the standoffs to discover that the mother would rock side to side. It was not resting on the standoffs but resting on the reinforcment piece underneath the processor. This was not an issue in my last case, and not something I'm willing to put up with in addition to the standoff issue. So, I've packed it back up and am awaiting a return authorization. And now, I too am looking for a case :( , I'll be looking at the v1000 and Stacker, and just about everything else anybody has mentioned in this thread.

Edit:

After looking around for another week or so, including examining the Stacker at the local Microcenter I was left liking only the Silverstone TJ03 and after much stalling because of the price, I finally broke down and ordered one from FrozenCPU. It should be here next week, I'll probably post a mini-review. I've still got about 50 pics of the Titan in my camera, I suppose I should post a mini-review of it as well.

830 does seem like a winner as long as you don´t have a noisy PSU. But still you get 1 120 exhaust under it and a top 120 exhaust.

Just hope you can get a good price on it. It´s twice as expensive as the 810 here in Sweden so I guess I will have to live with 80 mm top fan but two 120 mm exhaust instead, no side mountings of 4 120 mm fans though that is quite overkill and no crossboard fan...

The 830 surely looks nicer though. I found a canadian site there it was a bit more overcomeable pricing.

Oogie, that is one of the better mods I have seen with that case, very nice and very inspiring! Excellent job.

May I recommend YY-0221? Its cubish case with plenty of room. Also case is cool because it keeps mobo on one side and other stuff on the other. So when you put window, it looks really clean. Very sturdy case. Here is my YY-0221 modded.

Those cubic cases is the future really. Superior format if you look for good cooling and space efficiency. But they are to frigging expensive so it´s very hard to recommend them.

Build one... At least that's what I'm doin durrently... Here's my worklog Cubed if you wanna take a look....

Still it get expensive and if I would build one myself it would be crappy quality with rattles and what not I am sure :p

Buying, the biggest you'll get, with the largest option is the Addtronics W8500. Plain and simple, its a goddamn beast @ 45-50lbs empty, but its freaking disgustingly huge.

Is it large it doesn´t look so large. It´s definiatly wide though :).

I have had addtronics before. Some crappy 6896 or something mid or full tower. Just aweful case. Don´t like the design much of this either.

Decision made!

Oddly enough it was one of the first cases i looked at then discarded. It fits all my needs (is huge), has sideways hd trays, and has a nice window. In additions its emi shielded, which is real nice.

I chose the Aerocool Spiral Galaxies. Dunno why i looked it over at first, looks like the ideal choice now

I use the Thermaltake Armor. My only complaint about it is that the hard drives arent sideways..... its a pain in the ass getting that hard drive cage out with a 7800GTX card in there. I have to take the video card out usually...

I have two 120mm fans in the front, and one in the back. Also theres a 90mm fan on the top, and one above the back 120mm. Its got pretty good airflow, just the hard drive cage is a pain.

I have a thermaltake armor x8000 seriously a badass case , gobs of room and extremely nice airflow too! :D

Heres a hint on the harddrive cage- it comes out of the front no problems...

if you don't mind doing some heavy case modding, i have one of these
case
sorry about the link, but i don't have any photos of it

I was looking at getting one of those spiral galaxies bout a year ago. after reading some reviews i decided against it due to complaniants that some power supply connectors were not long enough.
I went instead with a lian li pc-v1100 b with their bolt on window. awesome case.
i got mine here: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193&products_id=2847

That YY-0221 looks very cool, I am afraid to ask how much though :( , where can I find one?

clubit.com has the stacker 830 for 259 with free shipping. Got mine from there!!!

Free shipping?! On that huge-ass thing?! If the postal-worker union knew, we'd have a killing spree on our hands!

Btw, nice price. Wish I hadn't started on a QPack. Stupid lack of good mATX boards.

You must have gotten a defective Titan- I have nearly the exact same MB in a Titan (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe), no standoffs were screwed in and there were predrilled and threaded holes for eATX and ATX MBs.

I had no issues installing either my A8N-SLI Deluxe or my current Intel Bad Axe 2.

In terms of installation, there is no real room behind the MB, so routing cables cleanly is very difficult. Also, w/o getting nuts with a dremel and then putting in all kinds of grommets, there isn't a really clean way of routing all of the power and SATA cables- my system is an ugly mess inside.

That's not a big deal to me, but the problem with the Titan is that there is a noticeable hot spot in the upper part of the case- the area below the optical drives and close to the CPU gets really hot w/o any real airflow. That's a big problem (C2D running 3.17GHz and northbridge running HOT don't help). With a Tuniq Tower, I'm getting 38-44C at idle on the CPU core and up to 68C during an ORTHOS run (20min. or so).

I'm probably going to have to add a fan in the upper drive bay in order to get more air out the back- the hard drives are running really nice and cool, same with the video card, but the RAM and northbridge are getting cooked.

I was thinking the same thing :)

I have 3 x TT Armors, they all are liquid cooled with tons of fans (my main TT armor has 3 x 120s, 4 x 92s, 4 x 80s, 250, and if you count the radiator then 2 more 120s. It's so cool I can chill down mountain dew at the same rate my mini fridge can. I've also uv sleeved/heatshrinked all the wires and soldered up some of my own front controller devices. It runs a lazer 10 led mod and 8 x uv cathodes also, along with the zalman controller + the logisys 2 x gauge w/ remote reboot mod. the jist of it is that you can do almost anything in the armor it's insanely big.

I would love to find a similar case with a few more external bays though so I can make some more controllers.. overall though it's big for most everything.

As a CM Stacker owner, and not reading all the posts on this thread, I say go with CM Stacker.

I have never met anyone that ever found a case that had absolutely everything they ever wanted in a case. With that said, you could buy a Stacker, and save some money for some decent, well worth your time mods.

Cheers!

Does the same go for the CM Stacker 830 (minus the saving money bit)?
