Looking for a 6400 3.2 Black Edition.

I'd look at eBay, seeing as how Froogle only came up with a single source priced at $297.99. My father has one in his system I built awhile ago but I'm not willing to part it :p
 
If they ever pop back up at Newegg even if they sell out right away check Amazon.com as soon as you can. Every single big AMD CPU sale I've seen at Newegg has been price matched at Amazon then goes back up when Newegg sells out or ends the sale. Amazon still has the 6400+ BE but at the moment it's priced ridiculously for the aforementioned reasons.
 
oops one of the linked vendors did have it in stock..egoodz, for $163. First two links said THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
 
Maybe consider a 5000+ BE. They are relatively cheap and I believe they can clock as high or higher than the 6400+ BE.
 
Hard to get 3.2 out of the 5000 BE without raising voltages to uncomfortable levels.
 
My 5000+BE managed 3.1 and couldn't go any higher. ={

Hell of a deal for $85, though.
 
Why do you want a 6400+ Black? I would bet that the reason someone's 6400+ gets identified as black is there are no differences. My friend with a 6400+ BE (I'm sure its BE, he still has original box) complains it has a locked multi. AMD themselves confirmed to him it has a locked multi in email support. There are no advantages to a BE over a regular, only the 5000+ BE is unlocked.
 
That's true. I have the 6400 BE and it is locked in my Nvidia chipset. I did hear that it was unlocked if you used an AMD chipset though.
 
I saw that newegg has a new 5800+ brisbane thats 3.0ghz stock and 89w. It was 99 shipped yesterday.

I for one didn't buy a BE but this original at x11 from x16 does 1500 HT link.

ps: I'm a oc noobie on amd cpu's.
 
My humble opinion........

Fuk the 6400+.........It puts out way to much heat relative to the small performance increase over the 65watt brisbane cores. If your gonna have a cpu sucking that much power, spend a little more money and get a Phenom 9850 if your mobo will support it.

Newegg had the 6400+ Be in stock for a couple daze. They're out of stock of the 5000+ BE. TigerDirect has the 5000+ Be in stock for less then the egg.:D Newegg loves to have their price monkies gouging whenever they can and their UPS shipping sucks compared to two years ago.

No way are you gonna regret buying a Phenom over the dual core.
 
The New Egg is the not the black edition. I called and they said its just the normal one but I did just win it on ebay. I used actionsniper.com its my fav site. 7 seconds before it ended. I hear someone is pretty pissed they lost it.

This is the last upgrade my motherboard can take because EVGA would not or could not release another bios update. I'm moving from a 3800 to this, so I believe I'll be pretty happy.
