Judging from the way the mice look, which do you think will be more comfortable? I've been using the Logitech MX line of mice for about 2 years now. Been through the 2 MX500s, 510, and now the 518. I must admit that I frankly have never been satisfied with the mouse shape. My wrist hurts more in the past 2 years than it has in the past 7, and I think it's in large part to the mouse shape.

Do you think the Copperhead's design will help me regain comfort? This coming from an IE 3.0 whore; that mouse was king. I just wish it lasted me. :(

Edit: Or would I be better off with this?

I didn't know microsoft was even making a laser mouse. They tell very little about the specs of it.

Yeah, it just leaked last week. Sorta caught everyone off guard.

The copperhead looks like its cased in the current design for the viper and diamondback, its a small lightweight mouse which glides very well, while it has 2 buttons on each side you're not really meant to use both sides (uncomfortable) its more for left and right handed people.

Personally the very light touch you need gives a much better sense of control over the mouse, you sorta surround the mouse with your fingers and guide its movement rather than resting your hand on it.

This sounds good to me. I'm sick of Logitech's design. They didn't tweak it at all for almost 2+ years. I'm told they finally did something about it with the G5, but no matter. It still looks the same to me. I think the crappy design gave me carpal tunnel. I used the IE 3.0 for over 3 years, and I'd never experienced any pain using it. But with the MX series, it's pain galore.

I hate the design of all of the MX5XX series. However, the MX1000 has a slightly different design which is very comfortable, I love the MX1000, loathe the MX5xx.

The G5 and G7 use the same ergonomics as the MX5xx which is why I will be going with the copperhead....also the copperhead is more feature rich.

ya i never really liked the logitech mx5xx design either. i like the thumb part, but on the other side, that pinky groove thing messes w/ me so badly. i actually like the design for basic mice, and since the copperhead isnt too far off from that, i'll probably like it.

I never realized it until after long gaming sessions of UT2004; my pinky was killing me. I'd never felt this before. Screw the MX series, it's Razer time.

The G5 is the better mouse. It has a larger surface contact area for less resistance, plus it has the adjustable weight cartridge. Not to mention the custom paint on each mouse.

I always found logitech mouses very comfortable..weird

This^^^

Logitech seem to have based their entire line of mice on a design which looks ergonomic but isn't, encouraging you to grip the mouse rather than flick it with your fongers as most people do, whilst also managing to exclude lefr-handers.

The copperhead, apparently, is slightly more humped than the others, which apparently gives more fo a feel of solidiy as your hand rests on it about where your fingers meet your palm - ideal, imo

My thoughts exactly. I've been through the entire MX series of mice. Not ergonomic, as they want you to believe.

I just bought the Razer from Razerzone direct. I'll let you know how it goes.

I just bought a copperhead as well. I've actually never used a gaming mouse before. I'm still using a trusty intellimouse optical 1.1a but it really clashes with the rest of my rig :D I'm thinking I will like the design more than the logitech's I've tried.

It's not leaked at all. Microsoft announced it at least two weeks ago. It is targetted at the gamer, what many left hand gamers will like is the ambidextrous design of it.

If you mean BB and CC, then I would say not until middle october or early November. As of now only a select few online retailers have the mouse. I would wait though. I think, with any laser mouse, as the technology is quite new, the people who run out and buy it right away are guinea pigs for the rest of us. Reading about the problems that the first edition copperhead is having, I'd say waiting until it IS in stores would be your best bet. Even if that's until the beginning of November. ( Which I hope is the earlier, as my MX700 is starting to die on myself. It's the last time I go wireless for a while)

I got my razer copperhead yesterday.

In the previous battle of diamondback vs mx518, I preferred the 518. The diamondbacks side buttons were just in the wrong place for me.

However, I LOVE the copperhead. The side buttons are perfect (although it seems a little strange to have to move your finger down for them instead of up like the mx518).

The copperhead is a REAL winner in my book.

someone w/ extra money needs to go buy both the g5 and copperhead so we can get some comparisons.

Don't tempt me.

Well I bought a copperhead today at my local Best Buy. I was completely shocked to see that they had them in stock. I was going there to return my mx518 for a Diamondback and saw the copperheads for $79.99. I really liked the mx518, but for gaming i preferred the feel of the razor mice(feels like a weapon in your hand),not to mention it looks perfect next to my saitek eclipse. I still like using my old red mx510 for the web & work on my other PC. I was a little worried about the left & right buttons because I noticed that the diamondbacks main buttons were too easy to click(lots of accidental clicks), and the side buttons were really just one with two different click placements. Fear not because these buttons are much better, main click buttons are stiffer and the side buttons are seperate. $80 is steep but its also the cheapest component to go with my system, I mean hell look how much we spend on ram.]^}

lol, yeah, copperhead plus eclipse (if it ever actually bloody arrives ) is gonna be sexful, specially with blue glow from case

I'm tempted to get a G5, and maybe MS's Laser mouse. I already have an MX700, MX1000, and a Razer Diamondback. I'm looking for something slightly heavier than my Razer, but lighter than the 700/1000. Corded/Wireless is kinda moot, as my multimediamouse is my MX1000...

Moving your fingers down ARE natural by default. :) It always felt strange lifting my thumb to shield myself in UT2004.

My Copperhead should be here by today or tomorrow.

I just recently purchased the G5.I got a big problem with them in quake 3.The scroll wheel works half ass when I want to switch weapons.Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesnt.Gamespot review mentioned problems with the scroll wheel also. Not sure if its defective, but I'm getting a refund.

Have the side buttons much improved on the Copperhead? I pretty much cancelled any desire for the G5 because it only has one button now, Ive gotten very used to binding 2 side buttons with my current MX1000, but im looking for something lighter to play Quake 3 with.

Yes the side buttons are way better than the diamondback, much easier to click since the buttons are separate. Actually everything is better :)

spot on^

but i can hardly comment as I don't use the side buttons much

from my testing though, yes, they are improved

as a matter of personal preferance i prefer the g5 shape, except the fact that the wheel is retarted and theres only one mouse button on the left side rather than 2 as were on the mx518

Is it just me, or is the IE3.0A the best mouse ever made? I have tried almost all of these new ones, and nothing can come close to my old one in comfort.

After this one dies, Im going to have a tough time finding a new one :(

It's not just you. The 3.0A was the best mouse ever made. So far, the Copperhead comes real close to it, at least for me. My mousing hand has never felt more comfortable in 3 years, which is when I left the 3.0A for the Logitech MX series. I'm glad to finally rid of all those POS I had (MX series).

So,

3.0A>Copperhead>MX series

Id have to agree, it's hard to find them at a decent price nowadays though :(

There are usually 4-5 3.0As on ebay, but theyre all used and/or the different uncomfortable version.
