X850 Pro 256

and the rest is pointless. What I am hoping to find out is what kind of memory do I want to get for overclocking this set up.
 
ive decided on getting 2 gigs (4 512) of corsair 3200 value and I'm wonder what speeds I can overclock to safely with this setup? Can someone give me some ideas?
 
Keep in mind that with 4 DIMMs on a Winnie, you can only do 2T timings. Which is less than optimal. You should stick with 2 DIMMs, get a Venice, or forget about having good timings.
 
What do you need 2 gigs of RAM for? :confused:

I would go with 2 sticks of RAM max if you're looking to OC. If you're that intent on running with 2 gigs then go with dual 1 gig sticks of RAM. You'll still have a bit of trouble OCing but you'll have more success than if you get four sticks.
 
Agreed. You won't be able to OC as far on 4 sticks as two unless you get a Venice processor (assuming that fixes the problems of Winchesters). You can get 2x1GB sticks if you need 2GB and then run a memory divider and run the chip as fast as you want/can.
 
Yeah, bad idea on 2 gigs. Most people have a hard time with one.
As for the brand, G.Skill is about the best bangfor your $ when oc'ing.

Winchesters have a prob with ocing with 4 sticks??

Having 2 gigs isn't all that important to me I guess if it will slow down my overclocking. So I should just stick with 2 x 512 pc 3200??
 
One last Q. I'm getting 2 512 sticks but I'm wondering will 3200 be enough or would I want 4000?

2x1gb sticks will do just as bad, probely have to run 2t stock clock.

that dosnt matter...

Example..
some corsair PC 3200 stuff rated to run 200Mhz 2-2-2-5 1t, is the exact same stuff as there PC4000 rated to run what 500Mhz 3-4-4-9 2t?

the best stuff you can get right now is any PC3200 with samsing TCCD chips on it..do a google search there are list of what memory has TCCD on it all over the net.
