Anyone seeing an issue with retrieving work with Linux SMP's lately? My three server boxen out here running CentOS have been seeing 503 errors when trying to obtain new work for close to two days now. GPU work has been normal and problem free, but the linux SMP's elude me.

Anyone know of problems with the Stanford Servers?

Mine has pulled a unit at 2:40 PM Tuesday and again at 11:20 this morning. No problems here. Both units were 2669s.

I have one Linux SMP client running and haven't had any trouble sending or receiving work units.

Some people on foldingforums are reporting issues getting work on Linux SMP but I blew them off as being nubs. However, now that Axdrenalin is having issues, maybe there are some issues going on at Stanford. I know Axdrenalin isn't a nub. :D

No issues here with the Linux SMP client in VM on Windows :)

I've 12x VM's which are all running at full speed.
The last one to pull work did so ~2 hours ago.
I've seen the odd one fail to get work first time.
But it is only the very odd one and its tends to only last a short time before it gets work, normally less than an hour.

First check Here that the server the client is trying to contact is up and running.
If it is, type the servers address (ie, http://171.64.65.56:8080) in the address bar and hit enter.
It should return ok.
If it does not, then something is blocking you, look at firewall, etc, etc.

Luck ............ :D

Bruce, the admin at foldingforums, has confirmed that there are problems with the assignment servers:

Yes, Assign2 is down. I have not heard back from the Pande Group yet.

http:/assign.stanford.edu opens just fine for me, but if your port 8080 is blocked, you'll have to wait for assign2 to come back on-line.

So it sounds like getting work is very hit or miss for the time being.

im not having problems getting work, but my clients keep getting hung and I have to reboot. So I turned off my SMP for now cause that is effin annoying!!

Thanks Tolbit - that has to be the issue that I'm seeing because all three of these boxen are sitting behind a firewall that does block 8080. I came home and didn't notice anything here having a cow, so I figured firewall as well (before reading what Tiger had posted). Sure hope they get that assign2 server back up soon - it's gonna suck for my PPD have all three of my 8 core boxen not able to get work.

assign2 has been brought back on-line.

Thats affimative...I saw your note and came on in to work just to make sure that things were back to normal. Sure enough, all three of them had retrieved work and processed 12% worth of frames in the 42 minutes since they had received the work (Project 2669 BTW)

I'm a happy camper again. :D
