Anybody own this or have some info about it? I was considering this one because the numbers on it look very good but haven't been able to find any definitive reviews.

I actually have this as my work monitor. I was asked to spec out an inexpensive secondary screen that rotates and is a decent size, and this one fit the bill.

It's a fairly simple monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, and I believe it is the same panel as the BenQ E2400HD, which is a pretty good thing.

I don't notice any temporal dithering, input lag, or problems with text. The dynamic contrast can be disabled, and I don't see any funny overdrive artifacts like inverse ghosting, so it seems like a decent choice for monitor and console use. It has no "aspect ratio" controls other than a 4:3 mode that I could find, but it has a good height adjust stand that also pivots for document use, limiting the negative impact of the lower (1080 vs 1200 vertical resolution) characteristic. It is a fairly stable and solid stand too.

I'd say for the price it is a pretty good TN based 1080p 24" screen, and I'd probably take this over the BenQ E2400HD due to the better stand and similar, if slighly lower, price.

Thanks a lot, 10e. Nice to hear a review from someone who has actually experienced it. I plan to use this monitor for FPS gaming, PS3 connection, and the Sims 3. ;) NO graphics work here. It probably won't compare to my 215TW for picture quality, but it's mainly going to be a gaming monitor with some dvd movie playing.

You're right about the panel. According to this website: (http://tftcentral.co.uk).
The LG W2442PA-BF, the BenQ E2400HD, and the Dell S2409W all use the same panel, M240HW01 V0.
Strangely enough, the monitors reportedly have slightly different performance though, with the Dell S2409W reported as have slightly better contrast ratio and black levels than the BenQ E2400HD.

According to cnet:

I'm really not sure how identical panels can have different performance, is it the electronics?

I plan to sit directly in front of it and use my 215tw as a secondary monitor. So there won't be too much problems with viewing angle when sitting right in front of it right? How is the black level performance? I'd say the one weakness of my 215tw is black crush and rendering dark scenes without losing detail.

I'm also wondering if I shouldn't just go for the Dell S2409W since its now on sale for $199. It does have an HDMI sound issue, specifically sound lag, so I'm not convinced that its HDMI implementation is very good. How does the sound via HDMI compare on the LG? If the sound is flawless on the LG, I think I'll go with that instead although it's a bit pricier. As you mentioned, it does have better ergonomics as well. (tilt/swivel/height adjust?). The LG would cost me roughly $300 after buying 0 dead pixel guarantee, shipping, and insurance.

I have a L1742T to replace a ViewSonic VP171b as part of a dual set-up, and unless it is directly in front of you, the colours are off. I didn't pay for it and I still feel cheated! (I miss the other VP171b)

Can't wait till they bring out LED backlite 24's with decent panels. mmm some of those on ergotrons, geek porn..
