i just got it today .. how can i test the response and input lag?
It's the same panel as the one used on the 32UD89/99, but without the rest of the bells and whistles, and a lower brightness backlight I think.
Wow, indeed this is a VA panel. I was under the impression that LG user only their own IPS panels in their monitors. They don't make VA panels, so this must be an outsourced one
here is the pixel layout.
Why can't it be glossy
labu1603, just to clarify your last statement, are you saying that gaming is very good or not very good? pixel response time seems decent? thx.
No need for a pursuit camera/pursuit rail, hand-panning the camera also works.
But it's pretty hard to get a good photo especially at 60Hz (it's much easier at higher refresh rates). Need 1/15 to 1/16 exposure time, and a steady hand while tracking.
Just take a couple photos and then choose the one that looks most accurate. I can see some overshoot in the middle row on the static photo, dark transition looks fine. But like Daffan wrote it might be a luck shot. Also the Overdrive setting matters a lot.
That slight overshoot in the middle one is really not that bad.
Check out my previous VA 32" monitor. The AOC Q3279WF8. Everything was perfect, as good or better then IPS (no glow/blb!!!!!) but the response time was so bad it was unusable.
Yeah that looks really bad, too bad about that AOC response time. It did rather well in other areas when reviewed by playwares and it is also glossy right?
But with trails like this - really sucks for gaming anyway. And it's only available in Asia-Pacific region.
Here are (almost) all pursuit photos that exist of VA monitors

As you can see it varies wildly depending on the screen but the vast majority has issues to some degree with the dark transitions.
This monitor looks very interesting for the price, however I can only seem to find it in the US so I'd have to import it. I don't mind that too much UNLESS it has some major flaw or a defect and I need to return it, then it won't be fun. But the price makes me think there's a catch
Labu1603 thanks for the reply to the ufo ghost thing above, I didin't see it till today because the quote got bugged or something.
That was at iso 3200? or just normal
labu1603, just to clarify your last statement, are you saying that gaming is very good or not very good? pixel response time seems decent? thx.
i use my galaxy s6 edge+ iso 800 i believe
keep us updatedAlright. We are trusting you here buddy! You say it's good well I've got to order one today!

any update on this? have you tried freesync?
I thought nvidia's fast sync was most beneficial on older games that are getting very high frame rates ~200FPS. At 4k it is doubtfull you will be getting super high frame rates unless it is a very old game or you have a really beefy system. I looked into the same thing when i was considering the Dell Oled, but on modern games at 4k fast sync didn't seem like it would be something that would help.
Tbh I'm eyeing this monitor for productivity and movie playback more than gaming. Although I might throw at it games that run at >60fps from time to time I know it's no competition for my 1440p / 144hz / g-sync / 1080 ti combo when it comes to smoothness or picture quality in motion (which I crave).
The delay on 4k 144hz g-sync HDR displays is what's making me consider this one - I'm starting to think I really want a large monitor with 4k and good colours (or a decent TV... maybe) for non-gaming stuff.
