Why are we no longer seeing the discounts for ordering video cards online compared to retail stores?
 
Snagged one with $10 overnight shipping from BestBuy's site half an hour ago (I had one on order from an HK seller on the 'Bay but it seems like it's not coming, if it does I'll just return this one to BestBuy in-store unopened)... already in processing :D.

Watch out for the HK sellers on ebay man. I never purchase from them.
 
Got one from Best Buy too. I'm pretty glad I didn't buy a GTX 280 on eBay, even if I could have sold it for a profit with that cashback deal. Plus I get to use my rewardzone dollars :D

Why not? :( I paid thru paypal with a credit card, emailed asking why he ended the listing from an "error" supposedly, and called the number they had but no response, kinda worried.

EDIT: I'm actually very concerned for some reason, should I open up a paypal dispute or something?
 
HIS (due to lack of ugly sticker) ordered at the egg. I don't mind $10 over MSRP.

did the same exact thing. A buddy of mine works for best buy.... but i dont think the gets online discounts. I still went ahead and rushed the order since it woulda been more on newegg. There should be a 4870 + 4850 crossfire review.
 
Bestbuy doesn't over night stuff. When you add the express shipping it comes up as delivery date of 6-30/7-1, basically ground service unless a local BB has your product
 
Argh, I want one but would the 1GB version would be any better ?
 
Don't count on a 1GB coming for a month or 2. 512MB is the reference specification so board partners need to make the decision to make a 1GB model - and who's going to do that when GDDR5 is in shortage?

Their help section says it is overnight shipping... I'm assuming the ETA thing is because of the claimed 2 days processing then the weekend which would be 1 business day after.
 
I hope we get them next day, but unlikely. Worked BB S & R awhile back and they dont over night anything. Only way you will get next day is if they have it locally and hand it to USPS the day you order

NewEgg has 'em for $310. Considering it competes with competes with the $400 260, it's still the better buy.

ROFL that was fast. I bookmarked a search for 4870 on 7 etailers and put it on the toolbar in Firefox. Clicked on all 7 every 15 minutes. Glad my morning was well spent. =)
 
£179.99 on ebuyer.com and 11 pre orders dissapeared in the time it took me to order my 2 :)

Thats incredibly cheap if thats the price it's going to sell at, especially for Saphire cards and especially for the UK market which everything seems way overpriced, the really cheap variants of the 280 start at £400 thats $800 USD

So these 2 are going to be significantly faster and cheaper.
 
I never go multi solutions, but I just bought 2 HIS 4870's from Newegg, which shipped already :D:eek:

Never been this excited since my first Voodoo2 12meg purchase.
 
Quick question about RAM size. I initially liked the Nvidia GTX 260 for price an 1GB ram size. But with the ATI 4870 benchmarks out now, it looks like the better value. However, since the 4870 is only 512MB of RAM will this be obsolete sooner than a 1GB option?

I'm slowly building a gaming rig and I would hate to replace a new video card after 6 months. So does RAM size matter?

If 1600x1200 and under - not at all. If at 1920x1200 - usually no. If at 2560x1600 - probably. Of course it depends on which games you play too. Modded Oblivion, for example, can easily go into 700+ MB of VRAM usage, but that's extremely unusual among games.

Whats cool about newegg is if you have the premier account, it doesnt cost you extra for the "rush processing". Now if i can just decide on a motherboard to replace the 680i so i can go crossfire.
