Lens Rentals?

Hey guys,
I have been looking around for an online lens rental place, found a few, however I would like to hear your opinions of where is a good place to rent from?

Also, could I get a good suggestion for a lens during the upcoming holiday season? I was thinking of the Canon 85mm prime? Should be good for portraits and candle lit evenings? However, I would like to have something with IS so that I can take photos in low light without a tripod. Would the 85mm L glass be ok hand held? Or should something like the 50-130IS be better?

I would require a lens for Canon (rebel xti).

Also, since I don't have anything other then the built in flash, would you suggest that I maybe get a 430ex flash too? Something to play with before I buy my own in the future.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
~Tim

I've heard good things about www.lensrentals.com.

In addition to the 85L, you could try the 70-200 f/2.8 IS. It's 2.5 stops slower, but the IS is good for about that much. IS won't help with moving subjects, but the 85 is pretty slow to autofocus, so either way you won't be catching too much action if the lighting is really dim. With the XTi you can still get nice results at ISO 1600, so don't worry about pushing it, just shoot RAW and take out the chroma nosie when you postprocess.

85mm on 1.6x crop cameras is a bit long. I would go for Sigma 30 1.4. If you're going to get a flash and try to bounce it, then there's no worry about hand shake because a flash used as main light stops all action. It takes a while to master the use of the flash so unless you have I lot of time in that time you're going to rent it, I would just buy it.

I've rented a lens from lensrentals.com and would have no problem doing it again. Quick shipping and good selection.

I've heard good things about the 85 (both versions), but I would agree with Ian that would probably be a bit long for indoor portraits. My 50mm 1.8 gets a lot of use on my 20D during the holidays (both with and w/o the 580EX flash), but sometimes it is a bit too long. I'd like to have a 35L for some indoor, low light stuff. Maybe I'll rent one. :)

well, after looking around and reading reviews I think I will go with the Canon 35mm f/1.4L.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

I think 35mm is great on crop bodies. You can do well with full body or close up portraits and low light well.
