I am looking at the Leadtek Geforce 6800 GT 256mb Winfast A400GT. I have not really heard a lot about leadtek recently, and even in a website review, they are reviewing the first week they have the card usually.
The card has a 3 year warranty, and a huge cooling solution. It looks good, but I just wanted to see what everyone around here has experienced with them.

its brilliant! i have zero complaints! 48C idle, never seen it go above 70C load. cooling solution rocks!
 
My brother just bought the 6800nu version. He currently has it clocked to 400/900 from 325/700 stock...he couldn't be happier.

And, this is just my oppinion, they make a quality card, always have.
 
I used to have a Leadtek card. The card was fine, but thier software is pretty lame in my opinion...it's called WinFox. WinFox is really gimicky and the theme sucks. It's for monitoring the temps and overclocking. I really liked the card tho. It was a GF2 Pro. It was the only one with the temp features at the time. It also had some diagnostic LED's on it to let you know what AGP speed it was at and correct voltage. The card had a custom fan that died every time it got to be about a year old. They would sell me a new one for $8.
 
My overclocked 6800 ULTRA don´t go over 70 too. Though that doesn´t help it don´t like 440 or above so I got some crappy one. But it runs everything splendid at 430/1200 on default cooling so it´s a bit silly to complain.

The only complain is worse 2D then my older radeons but that is the issue with all 6800:s apparently. They is a bit more blurry at 1600x1200 and above. Got a 22" monitor that do 2048x1532 at 80 hertz. Now it´s not that bad that I don´t use 1600x1200 as my windows XP desktop resolution but enough to notice it straight away. In games you can´t see the difference though.

But yeah go for it killer bundle too just love winfox 2 software even if it eats 8 mb of RAM :D

I agree Leadtek makes good cards, but WinFox blows
 
i have bought this card (leadtek 6800 gt) about 4 weeks ago ... and i'am very happy with it: great performance and not too noisy ...

temps:
idle -> about 50
load -> about 60 (several hours doom3)
about 64 (far cry)
ambient (45)


but, as all others say: throw away winfox and use coolbits ... actually i use the inofficial forceware 66.00 driver and these works great ....

my last 3 cards are leadteks and i have never had any problems ...
 
i had the Leadtek Ti4400 (the one completely encased in the aluminum heatsink w/ 2 fans) ran it past 4600 speeds since the day i got it, loved that card, sold it for my 9800Pro tho :p
 
All this stuff is good to know. I have an old Leadtek GF3 Ti500 and it's still a screamer (for the tech :D ). I was thinking about a Gainward or Leadtek 6800 Ultra myself. :)

....I still have mine in the garage....:cool: What a beast of a HSF that card has.

Always thought Leadtek was very high quality....never seen anything to change my mind.

I purchased my Leadtek 6800Nu about 1.5months ago. I've had it running at 400/900 the whole time. Great card. The heatsink on the card is HUGE and made entirely out of copper. Also, the fan on it is really quiet but does a good job. I definitely recommend Leadtek videocards to anyone looking into purchasing one.
 
winfox rocks. I don´t see the problem with it :). I would wish it would allow for game profiles though
 
You have to admit that the "fox" icon is pretty cheasy looking. The software however, does work well.
 
Question about their 6800GT cards.

would the HSF fit in an XPC? (ie Shuttle SN95G5) it looks a bit big....

Edit: and sorry for piggybacking on your thread, but I assumed it's a minute question on the same card...
 
Well I agree that the interface is unnecessary bulky and there is some useless functions never to be used but works damn much better then coolbits and nVidias default system icon :) They could have go for a more minimalistic approach then menues that cover half the screen but that is just cosmetic issues :).

I do like the monitor test images and such and the color calibration software that come with the leadtek too. I heard it could use conflicts with winfast tv but I have no problem with that at all have both the leadtek tv 2000 xp deluxe and the leadtek 6800 ULTRA guess I am a leadtek !!!!!! or something :). Maybe if you have the 6800 VIVO I don´t know?

And I must say it´s pretty damn cool being back to 1600x1200 gaming with tons of aa and aniso in titles like Doom3 and Far Cry.

But still I would need a utility to create game profiles with different levels of aniso and aa etc etc.
 
Yeah I had a Leadtek Ti4600, the one with the massive aluminum heatsink, and the WinFox program refused to work with the WinFast PVR. Go figure considering they are from the same company. Ah well good card, but as for the software, its bundled so no real compliants I suppose.
 
The leadtek 6800gt HSF takes up an extra pci slot next to the agp slot. Therefore whether or not it would fit in your shuttle depends on if you have an open pci slot next to the card.
 
Yeah they have obviously fixed that issue now so you can try it with the newest drivers :)
 
i do have a recommendation for people the leadtek a400 series card:

remove the dust filter on the card.

1. it blocks allot of airflow. (take it off, blow onto your hand then put the fan filter in the way.
2. the holes are so small that dust will collect pretty fast blocking what air gets to the card = overheating.
 
Yes you should remove it clean it and then install it again. That´s what it´s for collecting dust :) Otherwise you will loose even more performance later on and it get harder to clean up
 
How is this card compared to the new BFG card with the dual (and supposedly crappy) coolers? If it can be had for ~60CDN less?
 
well i got mine in yesterday from gameve.com.
I was kind of worried at first because there was no shrinkwrap around the box. when i opened the box, the end of the bracket (the end that slides beside your motherboard) was bent, like someone had dropped the card. i looked it over and nothing else seemed damaged, so i straightened it out with some pliers and popped it in the pc.
this card is very heavy, but doesnt seem to put too much of a strain on the agp slot or anything.
seems to run good, i ran some nfs:hp2 at 1280x1024 with everything on max and it was very very smooth. great looking color. i will try and download fraps and use it to see what i am getting. i will also try some doom3 tonight and see how that goes.

I had the same Ti4600...that damn thing was heavier than my GT is now, but it ran like a pro.

Anyone know how accurate the Nvidia temperature monitoring is on the 61.77 drivers? Mine never goes above 55C even after dropping out of farcry. My apt is pretty cool, 24C, but even with the gainward i don't think it should stay that cool.
 
The Leadtek 6800nu is a great card. Solid, stable, cool, quiet, fast. What more do you want from a graphics card?!. :D

The Winfox software is shit though. Use Rivatuner or Coolbits 2 instead.

Yeah true, I took mine off for a bit, but I read elsewhere that the dust filter stop dust accumulating on the fan motor, so I put it back on. It's easy to take off and clean anyway. I did notice a slight rise in temps with the dust guard on.
 
I'll say one thing for Leadtek, they have one of the best customer service depts in the business. They answer e-mails quickly, and take care of your problem much better than most companies do.

I thought just the back one was? front one is copper, but still kinda lame about the back one. Its still prob the best stock cooler for of 6800's atm though. Besides, looks better than reference cooler eh?

On the topic, Leadtek are the best IMO, they're cards sometimes come with faster RAM and almost always with over the top, but much better cooling than the rest.
 
Sense i started building a few years ago i started with the Leadtek Ti-4600 Ultra Vivo in fact i sold it for $100 to a good friend and hes very happy :) .Then ATI rolls out the 9700 Pro and the 9800 Pro which won me over for awhile but i didnt pass up getting the Leadtek 5950 Ultra vivo which is just as good as 9800xt.The hammer was droped down as far as im concerned when Nvidia rolled out the 6800 line so naturally i got the Leadtek 6800 Ultra and im in a whole new gaming world .This card has performed perfectly as did the other Leadtek cards.Ive never had an RMA there solid reliable and OC friendly.
I allways used Nvidia Drivers tho :)
