whast up guys..

I'm considering a purchase of 5-10 17'' LCDs for my business. Typically we would be using our own specialized windows software...nothing graphically intense at all...relative to word processing...email...ect. Thing is...I really don't know where to look first. I'm considering buying all new machines through IBM (i get an employee discount) but I'm skeptical about their monitor quality (although my thinkpads lcds perform exceptionally). I don't know if I should really pursue the IBMs due to the discount or maybe I could find ones at a better cost through dell or maybe some wholesaler considering im buying around 10. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as far as where I should look and really, what I should be paying in this market. Not picky...black and thin like those dells I see around are fantastic.

I'de really appreciate any help you guys could give me.
 
Dell i guess would be a good bet, as they make very nice monitors. They source their panels from companies like Samsung, and AU Optronics, and just badge them as Dell screens. They are very popular monitors as im sure you will see looking round this forum :) The 1905FP is certainly a very nice monitor, perhaps 19" would be affordable in bulk?
 
im still considering dell but I'm holding out until i get something I know is solid. any other ideas?

I delt with Gateways 17" LCDs at work for a long time, they worked great for office use. We switched to Dell and their 17" are good also. I guess whatever one is cheaper.
 
If you don't get any other suggestions as to where else to buy, then I'd suggest you price out a purchase at IBM and then set up a Dell business account. Call a representative and tell them what you're doing and that you want to pay X amount if you're to use Dell instead of IBM. They should level with you. Go with whoever gives you a better deal.

I don't know anything about IBM's monitors, but it's probably a safe bet. Laptop LCDs are a whole different animal, though, and IBM's laptops are great quality. That doesn't say anything good or bad about their desktop LCD's though. You should also look into your warranty options between the two companies. That can be a life saver over the months or years.
