Hi all, been lurking around the forums for quite some time now, just had a question which i didn't really get much help for so i finally decided to register.

Alright so, does anyone here have, or know of, an LCD monitor that is:

# 20-inch or more in screen size
# Has all 3 VGA, DVI and HDMI connections
# supports Full HD 1080p (1920x1080)
# has good response and very little ghosting (probably 5ms or less)
# ....and i can't think of much else, apart from that the display's output is actually good

I actually wanted to get my hands on one of those 120Hz LCDs and was waiting for them for a while, since stuff comes a little late in this market (UAE), but i was never really satisfied with features and several 'loopholes' (like 120Hz only functioning at native res). but recently a new monitor has become a bit of a need rather than a want, primarily because i occasionally have to hook up consoles (X360, PS3) and can't really use my TV since everyone else is using it. the 120Hz ones don't have what i need, and are still not widely available, and i am still unsure on whether they're worth it or not (even after trying some) so i figured i'll just go for something using my head rather than the bit of attachment i have with CRTs and high Hz.

the ones i am currently considering are:

Acer H243H
Acer H243HX - compared to the one above, this one has twice the contrast ratio, built-in USB and camera with mic. but out of these only the better contrast ratio is appealing, the rest are of no use to me.
Acer G245H - this one's very interesting

ATM i've only found Acers, would also look into models from all other manufacturers.

someone also recommended the Samsung T240HD and T260HD. they're both pretty much the same, the former is 24-inch and the latter is 26-inch. but i am not sure about those cuz they seem pretty much like TVs to me.

if anyone here has these, please tell me of their IRL performance and clarity, will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance. sorry for the long post.

All the above listed panels are pretty much the same to me. Generic TN's, all good response time, nothing outstanding. No appreciable input lag.

One thing you should note is that contrast ratio (unless specified as static) is useless to comopare. Some panels will list 1 million to 1 just because they use LED backlighting. Also unless you need all 3 inputs at once (switching sources), then you can get by with VGA/HDMI or VGA/DVI. So long as it's HDCP compatible, you'll be set.

Check out some basic comparisons; especially the viewing angles and out of the box color calibration; then decide what you like best:

k, thanks. the monitors are decent, it'll be cool if you can suggest something better.

i just found out that the Acer GD245HQ has all that i need along with 120Hz. makes me glad, but i also found out that it has defects for almost half of its users. anyone here have the monitor?

well, actually you don't need a VGA input if the DVI input is DVI-I ( digital plus analog), like some samsung LEDs, so your choice might be a lot easier than sounds at first.

I Have personally a 785G system with two Samsung LEDs 24" ( TN panels with LED backlighting) using the integrated graphics, which makes mandatory use of the VGA output of the MOBO. Most DVI only displays are DVI-I and will work with VGA cables.

actually, I will be using the DVI connection for my PC and the HDMI one for the X360, but what i need the VGA connection for is to use it with the laptops at home. i occasionally have to hook them up to a bigger display, and they only have VGA out so VGA is the only way i can connect them.
