LCD TVs Kill Kids

My LCD cost over $1800, my kids tip my shit over they better god damn die or I'm gonna kill 'em!

p.s. I don't have kids... cats yes... and yes I would rather my cat died than my tv got broke! :)

I think cat would escape . leaving the tv broken. if the tv hits the cat maybe the cat have enough puff to make the tv not damanged.

assuming your children don't bypass those safety features. I don't have children myself but have two small nephews (2 & 4), they remove outlet covers, climbed over baby gates, removed the latches off the the fridge and stoves. .....etc.

Child proofing a home is no guarantee of course. and you need to use the right tools for the job. It's at most a delay.

Most gates have ratings as to the age of the child it will repel. Like deflector shields. Some will stop toddlers and photon torpedoes, others will not. My three year old can compromise the gates (by modulating some sort of pulse I think). His little brother cannot.

The outlet covers we got have deflected all efforts so far. So much so that he's given up. I can deflect firepower of that magnitude! Ha!

The door locks are magneticly keyed. LOL, try that one little newb. Pwn3d again!

The fridge, fucking stainless steel, nothing works.

Oh, as to TVs: yeah if you have kids and it is not secure: fail train to shitty parenting town.

Seriously it is known that:

1- Newly walking or those learning to walk kids hang onto stuff while learning to walk.
2- Toddlers like to grab shit and move it around.
3- Toddlers like to push shit over, and if it lands on their little brother then DOUBLE SCORE!

Knowing these truths it is FUCKING OBVIOUS that your 200lb 65" plasma has better damn well be secured. Heavy speakers on wobbly posts? Ditto. It's not rocket science.

Unfortunately any 'tard or reprobate can have kids.

OH SHIT. We better level all of the rock cliffs and cut down all the trees. Kids may want to climb them! Why don't you go get started on that?

Parents should take reasonable actions to safeguard their children, but nobody is a better teacher than the kids themselves. Sometimes the only way they will learn is the hard way. You will never be able to protect a kid at all times. It would be like teaching a baby to walk without ever falling.

I'm not saying anyone did anything wrong, or that we should somehow be responsible for the kid's death. Nor am I saying we need to child-proof the world. It was a freak accident, and I understand that those happen and cannot be prevented. However, saying that the child "should have" died because of his curiosity is terrible. Imagine saying that to the distraught parents: "well, he was obviously an idiot; we're better off without him. BTW, have you heard of Darwin?" How comforting.

Holy shit man, seriously get a grip. It's a fucking joke.

To all who really were joking; my rant need not apply. I know from being here too long, however, that some [H]'ers take natural selection a little too far.

I apologize for the harshness of that post; you can tell I wasn't feeling the greatest that night.

So that way the kid grows up thinking mommy and daddy have to be there to protect them all the time? Heaven forbid the kid gets some freedom without somebody policing them every action they take... Might as well chain them in the basement so they never get out of sight. :p

fixed

The only comment I can say is. Have common sense and look for equilibrium.
A big problem with this country is taking things to either extreme and being fanatical about it. Take animal protection for example. There are either Abusers and Perverts who torture animals or Animal Terrorists and Fanatical sectists who consider animals more valuable than their own kind.

BOTH THINGS ARE WRONG!!!

Always safety proof your home if you have small children.

Yes, smart people know this, but there are way too many dumb people having kids. And then more dumb people that think kids getting hurt is the fault of someone other than the parents.

Sites reference to the Ben Stiller movie "Idiocracy"....

Yup.
i watched a neighbor put his kid in a bassinet, in the bed of his truck and drive up the road to the convenience store for Beer and Smokes,
I yelled at him saying the could could be seriously hurt and he would have been better off leaving the kid on the sidewalk for the 10 minutes he was gone." His reply "No way, something bad could have happened to the kid.

And being thrown 50' out of the bed of the pickup would be worse how?

LMAO, we had to upgrade the gate going to the kitchen. My 18 mth old figured out if he grabbed his big push toy. Got enough speed going he could ram into it and knock it out of the doorway. It's one of those that applies pressure to the door frame.

1st time I saw him do that I thought WTF!! He also figured out if he stacks his toys up he can get on top of stuff. Kids can problem solve. Don't let them fool you.
