i got green locking sata cables for my icy dock hot swaps ...
i found that 2 out of the 4 connectors on the icy docks dont lock so they constantly fall out
i also found that with a little bit of force i can rip the sata connector clean off of the motherboard
i was forced to rip the locking piece off of the motherboard end of all my sata cables to avoid ripping the sata connectors off again ...
Uninstalling an extra long video card in my old case, I managed to do that with a non-locking SATA cable to one of my HDDs (part of a RAID mirror, so no huge loss, but it still sucked). The little SATA connector is fairly weak compared to the gigantic IDE connector. (I bent the pins back, superglued the plastic back in place, placed the cable in the connector to hold it together, and I'm using that HDD as I type this sentence.)You have to be VERY careful with these locking SATA cables. If something bumps up against them or they get bent the wrong with, they will take the little plastic tab on the drive's connector with them.
Yikes... some people need to get with about a year and a half ago.
Kyle's just teasing us with that Intel SSD drive thats what I want!!!
Though not for $500 +-![]()
What's really funny is I have 2 pairs of hemostats in my tool kit that I use for work in my case! My wife is a microsurgeon, so I have plenty of them. It just seemed like a good tool to have. They've been invaluable for removing locking SATAs when they're situated as the middle connector. That way, I don't have to remove every cable in the machine to change out a single cable.
either way, I like the idea of having some sort of "tip of the day" video on the home page it makes me feel a little bit more connected to this particular site.
I wonder if this is going to be an ongoing thing, I hope so, I could always use some hardware advice from you guys, thanks alot.
Something so simple can be so useful, pretty cool. Also I'd like to say: [H] keep doing little video reviews like these, they look great and I always watch them all the way through. Thumbs up!
I dont know if this has been mentioned, but has anyone here noticed that Kyle is getting uber at videos?
At first he was like... uhh this is my radeon 4870, uh and my computer.
Now he is pro. Talking while whipping around an Intel SSD. He even made it clever by holding the yellow sata cable with the clip down at first so when he flipped it over we were all like "WTFBBQSAUCE."
Kyle, will you start you own news channel that runs 24/7?
Hey, where the hell you been, Kyle posted earlier today that he didn't want to hear this shit, get with it, Damn man!
