So now that I've deduced that my power supply is to blame for my 5870 problems, I'm curious to know if there is any chance that I could have caused long term serious damage to my 5870 by it not having enough amperage. I only ran it for about 10 hours, only 6 of that was in games.

Thanks again. :)

Most likely not, but the only way to know is to get a new one and test it out!

I doubt you've done it any damage. Just be sure to post a pic of you smiling ear to ear once you get to game on it. :p

It is possible, but unlikely. How have you come to that conclusion? If you mean the grey screen issue, up your ram voltage. It will fix it.

It's not the grey screen issue. It was the fan on the 5870 pulsating before post (rather than just spinning at max), which would stop sometimes when everything except the 5870 and CPU/Mobo/RAM was unplugged. Also the card could barely handle STALKER: SoC at 1680 x 1050 with all settings on high (Other than AA, that was off).

Also my power supply is only rated for 34 amps between it's two rails, and through a lot of troubleshooting and some information I received in one of my previous threads about the 5870 needing around at least 40 amps I've concluded that my power supply is most certainly the weak link.

If the power supply is the issue, it should just turn off the system when overloaded.
