Laptop Temperature problem

Hey,
I have a HP dv5-1004nr entertainment notebook pc

Ever since I bought it, about 3 years ago, it gets really hot. I've turned down the brightness of the screen, which has helped a little, but it still gets hot.

Also, since I bought it, my battery is only able to hold its charge for about 2 hours.

I was wondering what my options are to solve these temperature and battery problems or what would be the best way to go about this.

P.S. I don't know if this info is of any significance, but recently, my Battery Check has been telling me that my battery needs replacement.
 
Try to put computer in Energy saving mod. Clean Fan out in Computer Over CPU and Hardrive Clean out. Make sure you are using the Factory Cord to Charge you Battery.
 
For now, make sure that you've dust out the laptop and that there are no obstructions in any of the fans or vents on that laptop.

Now if that laptop is not under any sort of warranty, you try taking apart that laptop and reapplying some MX2 or some other thermal grease for the GPU and CPU. Instructions on how to take apart your laptop can be found here:

If you don't want to take apart the laptop, try a notebook cooler.

As for the battery issue, a replacement battery for your laptop is relatively cheap if you check eBay:

Alternatively, you can switch to Windows 7 as it is more power efficient than Windows Vista:

Ok, Thanks a lot. That battery deal on ebay sounds really good compared to HP's website, which is selling it for $130. I will look over these things and decide. Again, Thanks.
