not sure here as i don't really have any experience with laptops...wife's laptop randomly turning off every now and then, i suspect overheating.
its a toshiba L300E, pretty basic laptop. AMD X2 athlon (CPUID reports turion?) 2GB ram, etc.
cooling heatpipe and fins are not clogged in any way, neither is the fan and fan appears to be fully functional. i took it apart and reapplied thermal paste (used AC MX-2 paste) and that seemed to drop the temps a couple degrees.
ok then i ran a stress test with sisfoft sandra burn in while it monitors temps - it didn't crash and ran fine, but the temps were around 72ºC which raises a few red flags in my mind....granted its a laptop and under full load, but still. is this normal for laptops??
