Laptop drive is pausing randomly.

So I stuck a Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive in my MacBook Pro about 4 months back, and now it's starting pausing periodically. Certain programs will just stop listening to my commands for a few seconds or the keyboard will be a good 5 seconds behind my typing into it. It's most noticeable when I try to play video as it will pause and tear every few seconds. It almost seems like a latency problem.

I've run chkdsk /r and it didn't see any problems. Are there any other tools I can run to see if my hard drive is acting up or running slowly?

Crystal Disk Info says everything is good, and it's showing up blue:

Also, since this is the second Momentus XT drive I've stuck in here, are there any other hybrid drives? If not, what's the best 500GB+ laptop drive right now?

I don't know much about macOS enviorment.
 
hmmm, looking at the Seagate forums, there seem to be an inordinate amount of freezing issues and outright failures for mid2009 MBP units, lol. If yours doesn't have switchable GPU, than one suggestion was to disable NCQ (command queueing) in the nVidia BIOS settings (if avalible). <-- this was gleaned from a HP with nVidia chipset.

Otherwise, the other main theme seems to be MBP2009 SATA cables were not strong...

NOW I am out of ideas.
