Lag/Performance issues in Cod4...

Dude with that setup I wouldnt expect you to pull more than 15 FPS at 800x600 rez.
You should upgrade.

The performance issues solved.

Go to the control panel. Uninstall programs. Select Call of Duty 4 and hit the enter button.

Problem solved.

Huh  Im pulling ~40FPS (Not good but not horrible) in CoD4 with a slightly weaker system than him?

/sarcasm

yes you can run at 1600x1200++ at all high settings

now delet this thread because your about to get massacred because you could have researched it faster than making this post

If you dont have anything informative to say GTFO....

I am running Vista Ultimate...tried older drivers and latest drivers...

1. Your post(s) suck. Do better next time.

2. I'm running at 1920X1200 with a near-identical setup. Max settings, 16XAniso, No AA. Runs fine (60 ish fps) except when I run into the smoke bug (smoke nade's smoke fails to dissipate, I take a huge framerate hit). How does this compare to your experience?

Before you go trying to tell ppl to GTFO, learn to write an informative post about what you want feedback on.

All one person had to do was ask for the information they wanted, but the immaturity had to come out.

the last part of his sentence is probably: "...are not present on my system." And so he's making this thread to rejoice. let us rejoice with him.

Sorry most of our posts aren't as informative as yours. Why would you be playing with new and old drivers on Vista Ultimate?

All one person had to do was ask for the information they wanted, but the immaturity had to come out.

Whats the information you want, you started the thread and then about half way through must have gotten bored and just told us what your system specs were, which is well...very informative.

Why would we have to ask for information about your post when all you did was post your computer specs and said you had issues with CoD4? That only gets it down to around 1 and 1,000,000 problems.

Again, next time you try to claim someone immature and/or telling someone to GTFO, maybe re guess why people are posting random comments in your thread.

What resolution are you using? Is this 8800GT 256 or 512? What driver version are you using? Do you have a 8800GT in 2nd PCI-E slot with a 7300 Turbocache/LE? Is your memory running at the rated DDR2-800 speed? Are you using any type of cooling for your CPU? If you are having lag issues are you plugged into a 10MB Hub?

poor guy.. but anyways, tell us more why it's lagging and when it's lagging... we're not psychic you know.. just all of the sudden we already knew your problem.. give us more information and you'll get more informative comments instead of just your specs and saying GTFO... Good luck tho and some of us here does help if you're not being a douche...

You didn't apply the crack properly. Also, make sure you are loading emm386 properly in your autoexec file.

+1

I have no problem helping out people that actually take the time to explain the problem.

This seems like as good as any other thread to explain a certain issue im having with cod4.

It seems more like a skip/slowdown than anything. I am using the 8800GT 512MB Supercharged Edition. The Ram is running at the Rated Speed. Temps are fine when playing.

try reinstalling your driver with the new ones.. if that still doesnt work.. try reinstalling the game.. what FPS were you getting when you said it's skipping or lagging? is it unplayable? or just on certain moments?

COD4 Is fully updated. And the problem is the game seems to play very choppily. I tried all low-high settings..no change. Tried old drivers and new drivers..

ok try this to rule out software(av/programs in the background/viruses/spyware) causing your slowdowns.

go to msconfig. uncheck ALL in startup. and uncheck all NON-MS services. You can always re-enable them. then go into cod4 and see what happens. this is what i like to call 'safe mode without being in safe mode'

I already streamlined Vista, tried re-installing the Game a few times.

I am considering reformatting. Having a sound driver confliction now too :p

just a guess, but have you tried setting the affinity to like 2 cores instead of all 4?

you might have to do clean reformat buddy especially now that you have sound incompatibility... btw, are you playing with 4xAA because even with my setup, i can't run the game with 4xAA.. just using 2xAA and plays smooth except for the smoke bug..

Hmm well I don't have much problems with CoD4, but my FPS does drop down to 30's when i walk through smoke, with AA Off... my rig is in my sig, does that seem normal? This is at 1680x1050 btw.

there is setting in there that has the option to set to high medium low and off

i think its dynamic range lighting
