am the the only one? Because everyone I talk to complains that the game was too short and had no replay value

we played the hell out of the first one but for some reason we kinda stopped 2 after about 2 weeks.

I played around 50 hours so far. It's a very fun game, but I wish they had a more elegant solution for downloading custom campaigns. They will create a better system for Left 4 Dead 3, though. (L4D3 has technically not been announced, btw. Gabe Newell just said in a GameSpot interview that they are in the process of creating a more refined downloading system for the next L4D which will release in 2-3 years at the minimum).

How anyone can claim that a L4D game has no replay value has apparently missed the point of the game...if you do single player and say "well, that was fun, now what?" then I'm not sure how you were convinced to buy it in the first place!

I find it boring. The first one was better. I miss the characters from the first game.

I like it, but its too hard to find any good players due to the matchmaking system. The only friends I know that play seem to only invite me once they have exhausted all other options :p

i played it for... 17.6 hours (played the demo for 7 hours as well). i'd play more but my friends stopped playing and i have a large backlog of games that i want to get at.

I like L4D 2 but it's not as addicting as the first one was. The campaigns feel very meh, the level design isn't as good as the first game, IMO.

But the new weapons are great, I can't knock that, I like all the new weapons especially the melee. The new Infected are fun to fight too, the most annoying is easily the Jockey who if you're a little bit away from your friends, can really hurt you.

I think the game's variety is it's strength, it coulda used more polish IMO.

I haven't tried the multiplayer even though I know that's basically like the second half of the game, and an entire game unto itself. Just don't feel like it i guess. So take what i'm saying based solely on my experience with the campaigns.

I wasn't really compelled to play past completing the missions a couple times through each. I enjoyed the first one more just because it was fresh.

I think it's a fun game, of course the campaigns aren't super long but most of the fun is in versus or scavenge online. I don't play it enough so I usually end up frustrated because I apparently haven't figured out the mechanics. I'll be jumping at people as a Hunter and I'm damn sure I should be latching on to them but it just doesn't happen, I can't ever nail anyone with the Charger, I've had good luck with the Jockey, I always overestimate the Boomer's vomit range, and I always seem to get killed too fast when I'm the Spitter. Sometimes I wonder how people spot me and kill me so fast but then again it is the Source engine and when you die always feels a lot faster than when you're killing.

I also think it's fun, but I played the first one so much that I am almost worn out from killing zombies.

I still play L4D1 and I really enjoy playing the 2nd one...mindless fun after a long day of work

I play L4D2 about 45 minutes a day, but I liked the L4D maps much much better.

L4D2 is tons of fun to play with friends. Ellis is one of my favorite game characters. "Yeah, me and my buddy Keith..."

Wow you hit it right on the head, same thing happened with me and my crew. Dont know why because the consensus is that we all like 2 better than the first.

I am addicted, I play regularly. My only complaint is as follows:

Why the hell is it that 75% I join are filled with players with orange 120+ pings including myself? Then there will sometimes be one guy that is green because he hosted the game in africa and it found the best dedicated server for him but everyone else is in America. This happens SOOO MUCH! I really wish I could tell L4D to never put me in a game that Ping > 100...I know you can do this as a host, but I dont like to wait for people in a lobby, thats the biggest ADD fest ever.

I like it better than the first, but I'm just not addicted to games in general right now.

me and my buddies were addicted to first one till we beat everything on expert got allt he gold times etc.. for some rerason we catn stand the 2nd one.. i think its a made for console game my self and my inner gamer has realized and turned off my interest accordingly.. thats just a theory though..

That was happening to me alot last night. It took a good half hour to find a server where I pinged below 100.

Otherwise, I've been pretty much addicted to L4D2 for the past few weeks. I find it easy to pick up and play for an hour when I have some spare time. I find plowing through hordes of zombies quite relaxing after a long day at work.

Oh and to add, when I finally find that server with everyone below a 100 ping, some fuck is playing music over the mic like a loser walking down a street with a boombox on his shoulder. Drives me nuts that people think others want to hear shit blaring in poor quality over the mic so nobody can communicate.

But I still love L4D2!

L4d2 lost something from L4D1 its hard to say exactly what it is.

Bad characters, Caped hunter abilities like block roofs and leaving out high places, wide open areas with few spawn points. might be some of it but I still feel something is missing that I can't quite put my finger on.

But I still play L4D2 all the time and it's a great game just lacking that special something that the first one had.

I've got 308 hours on L4D1 and so far 62.3 on L4D2. I usually play 2-3 times a week, it's good fun.

Is L4D2 more glitchy or laggy than the first? I've watched my son play it and at times I see things pause more and then start back up. I never saw that in the original.

Never bought the second one. I REALLY enjoyed the first one with a few friends, but we can hardly ever schedule four of us for the same time anymore, so when we do, we've had to get REALLY picky on the game that we play. Which means we only play Planet MULE. :) (which is definitely not a bad thing anyway) I'd love to play a bit more L4D or L4D2 with my friends, or maybe even a co-op SS2 run. Just doesn't happen though, and without playing co-op with my friends, there's no chance for addiction for me.

I am addicted to L4D2. The special ammo, melee weapons and new special infected make it so much more replayable then the first one.

I have logged over 130hours as of today

i just got "still something to prove" by finishing all five campaign on expert - last man on earth mutation, MAAAAAN, it took me like 3hrs+ total but it felt so good, i can finally say that i eat special infected AI for breakfast now :)

I played 200+ hours in the first one, 30 in the second one.
Really valve screwed us over on L4D1.
I mean L4D2 is great and all that but it split the community.
Now there are mutations to try and bring people back. ok. maybe.
I am trying my first for solo survivor mode.
But in a dream world I would love to see the two games merged into one
lacking that, L4D2 mechanics used in the first game also.

yea i would love to see official l4d1 maps played in the l4d2 game, dead air with charger and frag rounds would be sOOO fucking awesome, btw realism versus is a really welcome addition to the already vast variety of l4d2's gamemodes, real men use their ears when their comrade is in danger, not stupid visual aids :)

I can't even imagine playing this game with a 360 controller and TV speakers, my razer abyssus + AKG K601s make the so much more immersive and fun, killing hunters midair, shooting SI through walls / doors thinking they're safe because they are not visible yet, add 2-3 steam friends on your team with decent skills and microphones ( stop using the keyboard dumbasses, communication in this game has to be INSTANT and effortless ) and the opposing team is guarranteed to rage quit sooner or later :D
